That's fine, but they shouldn't get any money from revenue sharing because of this.

Well the obvious question is how do you trust Mizzou to show up for the bowl game in the first place? I mean what if some campus nitwit goes on hunger strike and starts whining "RAYSISM".

Seems like someone at MU may have figured out the sooner everyone forgets about this fiasco of a year in Mizzou football, the better. Clearly Pinky will avoid questions about his involvement in getting the president fired, maybe the cancer treatments will keep his schedule full until the statue unveiling in a few years. He can dodge the issue well enough for that long.

agreed, they hurt the revenue being brought in by the conference. There should be some backlash especially considering the other shame they brought us.

You still don't get it, huh?

You guys don't give a frick about Mizzou, and we don't give a frick about you. Just keep sending us our annual check.

I'm sure whoever the new coach is would like the extra practice time. What a dumb decision.

As far as the bowl revenue goes, you can bet that our AD checked with the SEC office, and if they would have had a strong preference Mizzou would have sucked it up and gone.

As far as the practices go, if Pinkel was coming back then it would make sense. But how much benefit is a month's worth of practices if at least one side of the ball (and likely both) will have completely different schemes next year and different coaches? Makes no sense. One more reason I don't think they're hiring Odom; if they were this could be a de-facto first month for him. Instead, the bosses are likely gone by the end of the month anyway.

Finally, I can bet the assistants have NO interest in sticking around for another month and gameplanning when they need to be looking for a job somewhere. There's nothing to be gained here.

seems like this may rule out DC Barry Odom as the "soon to be announced HC", since he would probably say, "uh yea, let's just go ahead and do this".

dumb...they could be practicing. They need it

Practice what?

The same old shitty offense that's about to get sacked with the same old shitty offensive coaches?

No thanks. Glad they ended it. We've suffered enough.

This decision is pretty bad, really. I can see why they just want this season to go away, but

1) extra practice time is helpful to the team, as stated. If you're a mediocre team with young players, this can be the difference that helps you turn the corner going into the next season.
2) bowl revenue is split among conference teams (unlike at the Big 12 where they came from). Mizzou fans talk about losing money to go to a bowl, but the way it works is (if I remember it right)... each team gets 1/15 of the bowl revenue of every single team in the conference, plus 1/15 additional of the bowl you go to. Minimal bowls pay out what, about a mil? You are taking bowl revenue from every other team in the conference by refusing; yet you will take your share from those that do go.

If you like, you can just do basic drills for the extra couple weeks. Any player coming back would benefit from this. If you take NCAA football seriously, it's a very shortsighted decision to make.
