Agree that the history has a big part, but Alabama people kept traveling to crappy bowls and out of conference games in far off places (OU, UCLA, etc) even when we sucked in the early 2000s. It's just what folks do. We have earned a lot of our reputation stuff for having crazies, but on the flip side we also fill up our stadium when we are 6-6 for 4 of 5 years and have no end of the misery in sight.

Well right, but those people were developed in the periods of great football, conference championships, and pretty dominant football. The dark periods were dark, but short lived and filled with fans that knew what it's like to win and have that in them.

Mizzou just doesn't have that, and it will take a long long time to develop that. If we were winning Big 8 championships in the 70s and 80s I'd imagine we could probably survive a decade of mediocre football with a strong base.

However, we never really won championships and our bad periods were a far fricking sight from mediocre. I can't see a time in the next decade where we could have the ability to fill the dome with at least half black and gold. It just takes time, and we're only about ten years into the rebuilding of the rabid fanbase. That being said, we're starting from a little bit of a higher position than many of our former Big 8 brethren, but it's going to take some time to get it to Bama levels and that may never actually happen.

We travel very, very well and there are tons of Bama fans in ATL and the surrounding areas.

2 SEC schools travel very well

Bama in football
Kentucky in basketball

Both own ATL when they play there

80 / 20 for Bama football seems about right or a bit low
90 / 10 for UK basketball seems low
