I'll tell you what is really behind this rebel garbage and it's pretty simple. Every athlete that gets booted from a college program for crimes get's recruited and transfers to Ole Miss.

Am I right rebels? You've taken so much heat pulling in guys booted from other programs that you feel a need to deflect all that crap the last 5 years.

Coaches and players cut the media off all the time man, it happens. They don't have to be transparent with the media, if they did do you think it would take 3 years to get the details on an NCAA investigation? They refuse to comment on injuries and other issues all the damn time. They have to make scheduled appearances with the media, per their contract with the university. They are not obligated to share details relating to the program.

They are granting them very valuable time, as media they have the responsibility to be respectful of that time and carry themselves professionally. And in this specific instance, Scott didn't have to be sitting there yesterday, he didn't have to give those guys his time.

I wonder if the feminists will send a protest crew to Starkwhatever. Would be a great place and to start trouble and the candy soft punishment for beating a woman is a perfect spark for them to get their protest on.

I'm sure he would hit a man who was fighting his mother. So wouldn't it be sexist to not hit her?

SJW's would be too confused on the issue. And honestly, if they haven't showed up in MS yet I highly doubt this is the final straw.

This AD has an obviously volatile situation on his hands. His lenient decision makes it a talking point of national discussion, and he decides to talk to the press in the basement of the Ramada while wearing shorts and sipping a Dasani.

This guy is a complete idiot. Does he not realize the national outrage at athletes' violence against women?

There was absolutely nothing unethical about what Andy staples did. Part of the job of the media is to hold people that are employed by an institution funded by the public accountable.

Just because you don't like that he's trying to hold your athletic director accountable doesnt make it unethical.

What you're wanting the media do here is basically just repeat whatever the msu PR release said.

The Rebels- "Yes we have taken every criminal into our program for years who have been kicked out of programs across the country, but our local media is good with that."

Interesting concept...does that mean being transparent and not hiding behind FOIA red tape, privacy acts, and a non-existent gag order?

If they do, then maybe the Mizzou hunger strike guy will bring his crew down to stage a counter protest in support of the university for allowing the young lad the opportunity to enroll and pursue his dream.

But, but, but it was unprofessional....but, but, but we are pure as driven snow....but, but, but our kids never do nothing wrong and we wouldn't EVAH take some kid with baggage. Give it a break Hypercrit. I mean this is a misdemeanor and not a huge deal. But for crying out loud you and your butt buddy State fans try to make mountains out of mole hills none stop. If you can't admit that then I got nothing for you. Plus your freaking AD looked unprepared and out of sorts as he got his arse tore the frick up. Maybe they should hire some decent PR people to prepare him prior to holding one of the most unprofessional adhoc press conferences I have ever seen. I mean sitting down in shorts and a resort shirt. That sets the tone that it ain't no big deal right off the bat. Why not have a podium and standard business casual. Some really really simple things sets a tone and likely would make it less likely to be "shark week for Strugglin".

Has the ole miss AD been fired yet?
He currently has 3 programs with major violations under his watch.

Our AD at least talking with a media member and answering questions is a hell of a lot better than the avoid/deflect going on in black bear land. Maybe this will cause him to rethink the position, or change stipulations surrounding simmons or future recruits.

Maybe we can push for an SEC rule -- all incoming players with a misdemeanor have to sit out a year?

Would be something interesting to explore, but you'd only be talking anything that occurred after their 18th birthday I assume.

Yeah, while it's a bit stupid that this needs to happen, I'd be happy if there were a standard for infractions, and they were mandated by the league, and not the coaches. That way penalties across the league would be consistent.

As it stands, the schools have a bit much leeway.
IE a failed drug test at uGa is completely different than at ole miss.

After baseball we should start an offseason thread discussing the crimes/punishments.

Kudos to those reporters. Made that very uncomfortable for him as it should have been. You could tell he knows they are doing a shitty thing, but there are enough non answers to hide behind and they want to win football games.

Simmons is a POS. You beat a women like that, no matter the situation, and you are a POS. POS gonna POS. If he does something violent towards a woman on campus I hope they sue the socks off the university.

It looked to me like he was pausing and debating whether or not to walk out, which I would have, there is no reason to sit through an interview with someone that unprofessional.

Keep the blinders up though, take a few days to be as subjective as possible about all of this until everyone forgets about it.
