Obviously your just another liberal whack job that is talking out of your arse. Why don't you go do a little research on what your calling a cage. And what actual experts say about the cats at LSU.

He was also a rescue and the place he came from in Indiana was a refuge and sanctuary. It is now out of business. So that should make Clemson boy there happy.

That is so sad.
We lost one of our cats to the same thing. I know, cotton the house cat <<<<<<<<<< mike the tiger. But we loved him. We had the option of the treatment. The vet said possible $5,000 to extend his life for maybe two years. We did not choose the treatment.
When researching this, found that there are possible ties between injection sites ( vacs included) and development of the sarcoma. By all means have your pets vaccinated, but also ask questions.

Adding 2 years versus 2 months is huge in the lifespan (assuming it's a quality life) of a tiger consider an average life span of around 14 years or so.

Thoughts with the LSU family.

It really puts a major damper on the day and very sad. He's a beautiful animal and he always seems to be having so much fun living his life of Riley in his 16,000 sq ft. habitat. Maybe they will be wrong on his time left with us. As long as he is not suffering and in pain.

Sorry about your pet. Ironically, Mike VI was the actual house pet of the former Administrator of Great Cats of Indiana, a cat and tiger sanctuary that donated Mike in '07.
Called Roscoe then, his owners placed him in the sanctuary when he got too big for their home. This is thought to be why he loves doing high fives and licks visitors' hands outside the glass, especially small kids.
Hang in there Mike.

by JesusQuintanaThat's nonsense. I get it. You guys are going to defend the process, and I understand why but quit trying to justify it with anything more than you think its cool to have a live Tiger.
REALLY ?????????????
So the reason that Mike I and every subsequent Mike that were given to LSU by zoos or sanctuaries traditionally since 1935 is...........wait for it - because it was "cool" ?????????????????????
That may be the most monumentally retarded statement I've ever seen here.
Mike Chambers, the LSU Athletic Trainer in 1935, was the namesake of all the Mike the Tigers. He and the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine (world-renowned for over a century) have taken care of every mascot since. Six Mikes in EIGHTY YEARS is pretty damned impressive. That wouldn't happen in the wild or even in a zoo.

They won't let Mike go through a painful ordeal. There's too much respect for that animal to let him suffer.
He is treated like a king.
I'm sure the LSU Vet Department will make the right call on that. If they see him suffering, they will quietly and with dignity euthanize him.
Oh, and frick cancer.
