I don't live close to Hoover. Just trying to explain the business end of it. Hoover will put in a strong bid because they have a history to base their bid. The others don't, especially if you remove the RV option from the venue. It really won't matter to me past this year because it's probably my last if I can get rid of my rv. If I do that, I wouldn't go to Hoover or any other venue except in the rare instance that we play in the finals.
If I was lobbying for closeness, btw, I would say Pearl's Trusmark. Nicer stadium than Hoover Met if you have to have the glitz, but would be a horrible venue for the fan, convenience of hotels, etc. The only positive I could see over Regions or Memphis is a dedicated parking lot next to the stadium. Plus, you could walk across to Bass Pro and eat at Uncle Buck's Grill.

Look, the other Birmingham park is third, behind Memphis at second. Pensecola and Jacksonville makes the list.

It's never going to be in New Orleans with their current setup.

Rain and sleet in May? Sounds delightful!

Arkansas is about 1 mile across the Mississippi River from Autozone Park. There are many Hog fans in the Memphis Metro. When the Hogs played Memphis there in 2011 it was a sea of red.

Metairie is an awful location. Airline highway would be a disaster traffic wise. And there are no decent restaurants in that area and Kenner sucks

Huh ???

1.
They why aren't there disasters 'traffic-wise' for Zephyrs games and college games between Tulane, LSU and other schools, including NCAA Regionals ????
The lots and parking around Zephyr are adequate and traffic flow is planned very well and supervised. It's your own fault if you don't go early.

2.
Zephyr Field is in Metairie, not Kenner; neither of which suck. There are restaurants, malls, shopping centers, the Treasure Chest Casino, hotels, lounges and nightclubs, etc. in both.

3.
QuarterView Restaurant, Young's Garden, Jaeger's, New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood, Copeland's, Cathay Imperial, Phil's Grille, Caretta's, Zea's,
Reginelli's, Smilie's, Italian Pie, Shimmy Shack, Charles Seafood, etc. are all within a couple of minutes driving.

And not far away at all in Metairie are: Drago's, Ruth's Chris, Café' B, Fury's, Acme Oyster House, Andrea's, Don's Seafood, Austin's, Deanie's, Vincent's, Shogun, Porter & Luke's, etc.

Then there's NOLA and the Quarter of course, along with Mid-City, Maple Street, Bywater, the Lakefront, and Magazine Street.

Not sure if serious.......

I don't think Zephyr would get serious consideration due to its distance from the geo center of the SEC footprint. It could the best venue in terms of all those things you listed but would be eliminated solely on its distance from the East schools.

True. The only positive outweighing the distance factor from other SEC fanbases might be New Orleans...
But you're right....

Did you really mention the Treasure Chest Casino as an attraction? That place is a cesspool.

LMAO at New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Co on Vets as a place to tell an out of towner to go to eat.

All of the hotels in Metairie suck other than by I-10 and Causeway.

Also, Yeager's used to be good when it was on the Lakefront and not at the abomination of a location in Elmwood.

And there is no way someone from out of town is going to be able to navigate their way from Zephyr Field to Deanie's in Bucktown. It would take them 30 + minutes and they'd likely get lost.

yea he was reaching big time. Memphis should get it on proximity of Autozone,a great field, to downtown. I hate going out to Zephyr field.

I would suggest we have it in Omaha. That way Ole Miss can get there.

I have not been to a Zephyr game in some time, but the last time i went the traffic was terrible. Is it still bad?

I went to the Wally Pontiff Classic last year. Traffic was backed up when I got on Airline, heading East. Not sure how far it was backed up, I got on Airline, at Dickory. Once I left the parking lot, heading East, it wasn't bad.

If you stay in the City or have to use Airline, Airline and Clearview intersection is a disaster from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on the way to Zephyr Field. You have rush hour people coming from the city and people trying to get out of Elmwood. Zephyr Field is just not in a great location for a tournament like this. One game is fine like LSU-Tulane, but not for a tourney like this.

Ole Miss went to Omaha in 2014. That joke isn't nearly as funny anymore.
