Nah, Saturday Down South had already settled it.

And when it was all said and done, with Alabama having finished penning Chapter 13 of Joyless Murderball and singing yet another verse of “Rammer Jammer” in the home of the Miami Dolphins, it became increasingly clear that this 2020 Crimson Tide team earned something even more than another ring.
Those teams are worthy of the conversation, sure. But what none of those teams had was the offensive firepower that the 2020 Tide did, the heart that the 2020 Tide showed in sweeping through the SEC gantlet without a single significant player loss due to COVID-19, and the passion the 2020 Tide required to run the table despite a gigantic bulls-eye on their back.

The strongest top-to-bottom conference in college football develops national championship contenders every season, but even the incredible performance put forth by LSU in 2019 somehow felt different than Alabama did in 2020.

The job was done. A team can’t win any more games than that, and hasn’t won them all more decisively than this team did.

A number of Bama teams would destroy that 2004 USC team. their defense was for shite.

Are consistently overrated due to the amount of players who went on to become stars in the NFL. They were a great football team, but they had a couple of close calls during their season. Same thing goes for 2019 LSU.

When I think of greatest team of all-time, I think of total domination. And there's only been one team since the dawn of the Coalition/Alliance/Championship Series/CFP era that has done that: 1995 Nebraska.

They were a great team, but their schedule was garbage. That's been demonstrated more than once on this board.

A third of the teams they played that season finished ranked inside the AP Top 10.

And they won those games by an average score of 49-18.

#4 should be 2011 Bama 2020 was only statistically good, because they handled covid protocols better. That's really it. Every team they faced was extremely depleted.

Alabama didn’t have a single team forfeit. The team with the worst roster situation was a make up game and wasn’t going to compete with them unless they brought back their prior year’s roster.

This is absolutely false. In fact, the only team we faced with more than one starter out was LSU, IIRC. SummerOfGeorge did a whole breakdown of this myth. I’m not sure where it even started. The Tiger Rant, I guess, in a pathetic attempt to cling to that “mUh BeSt TeAm EvEr” that lasted precisely one season.

Speaking of depleted. I'll bet no LSU fans remember this article from the Advocate the week of the 2019 game.
So if depleted rosters lessen a teams achievements then 2019 LSU wasn't as good as they thought.

quote:

The doors to Alabama's indoor practice facility opened. Reporters filed in, peeking, searching for the quarterback who was supposed to be there.

Nick Saban had said the injured star would be returning for the first time since suffering a right high-ankle sprain against Tennessee on Oct. 19.

Tua Tagovailoa was unseen.
It doesn't take much to understand Tagovailoa's injury has come at an inconvenient time.

To add insult to injury — well, there aren't really that many injuries in Baton Rouge. LSU coach Ed Orgeron has said frequently within the past few weeks that this is the healthiest the Tigers have been all season.

The injured list is long in Tuscaloosa, and although it hasn't yet toppled the Tide, it's cumbersome enough to cause concern.

It all started when preseason All-American inside linebacker Dylan Moses was lost for the season because of a knee injury suffered in preseason camp. Then senior linebacker Joshua McMillon also went down for the year with a major knee injury.

But the injuries continued to pile up.
The list swelled against Arkansas: starting center Landon Dickerson and left guard Evan Neal both left the game with injuries, running back Najee Harris twisted his ankle, wide receiver DeVonta Smith bruised his shoulder and defensive back Shyheim Carter also left the game because of an injury.

All seemed pretty minor in the game, including tight end Miller Forristall's. The team's sixth-leading receiver with 131 yards and three touchdowns went back into the game after being checked on the sideline; Saban said the team later learned that Forristall suffered an injury to his voice box that requires surgery and will put him out four-to-six weeks.

I love when insecure Bama fans make up facts to try to prop up their Covid champs, lol.

Ohio State down 3 starters vs. Bama

Heisman winner Matt Leinart not even putting Covid Bama in this list in 2023 instantly disproves that.

Alabama’s national title opponent started playing football near Halloween and won a whopping one more regular season game than shitass 5-5 LSU that year. Holy asterisk

We didn’t play them until we got to the championship. I think the total number of starters who sat for their respective Bama game in 2020 was 7, and 4 of them were on LSU’s roster. Because of that French, pussified, yellow bellied, white flag waiving, blood of yours.

Baby shite soft.

Why did LSU have more starters out vs Bama than every other team we played combined?

Give me one legitimate reason, other than your World War White Flag Waiving French Blood ™.

2001 is grossly overrated. Did they have the best collection of talent ever? Likely yes

Did they actually perform as such as a unit? Not even close

So this all-sec schedule you boast about had a lot of players missing, eh?

With a five win OSU that tide fans in this forum claimed had no right to be there.

How is this even a debate?
