And we're willing to pay a shite ton more than he's making at MSU.

I think Dantonio is a great coach, and I respect him greatly (My Boss is a Spartan so I "follow" MSU), but he's not coming to South Carolina.

He also does a lot of his recruiting in the South and has a keen eye for talent. He would make USC a year-in and year-out contender.

I dunno, Lon. He was recently quoted as saying he'd like to get back to SC in the near future. That was before we all knew about Spurrier.

Pretty sure he won't budge. He said he didn't want to be coaching until he's an old man.

Sounds like 3-5 and he gone.

It's very possible he meant move to SC after he finishes up at MSU. I'm almost positive he'll get the obligatory offer, though, just out of respect of him being a Gamecock.

He made $5 million (with incentives) last year at MSU. SOS made $ 4 million....

I don't expect him to come, but if he wants the job, he's a pretty big slam dunk. I like his brand of football. His teams are physically tough and violent.

I think he's happy where he is, and is likely to stay. But he's a good Gamecock, and he ought to be celebrated here when possible.

With the way recruiting has slid the last couple of years and the talent on the roster, SC is a 2-3 year rebuilding job. I'm not certain CMD would want to take that on. I wouldn't be shocked if he did, but by the time he got the ball rolling, you'd only have him for a couple of more years before he retired.

Fuente, who turned a Memphis into a top 25 team in his 4th year and is currently riding a 12 game win streak, is who I'd hire if CMD declines. Herman is sexy, but he's been a HC for 9 months.

And it's pretty well known that we're willing to go up to 6 mill base salary for the new HC.

I was surprised when Bert left Wiscy, I would be less surprised if CMD left Sparty to come to his alma mater.

Not saying I think it's likely, tho

True, but they also don't like to be around a lot of other old people. The South is full of them.

We have to at least give him a call. Not saying he will come, but we need to reach out to him.

Sometimes some of you Dawg fans crack me up with the Freudian fear you let slip at almost every move South Carolina makes these days.
