Dantonio’s name predictably has appeared on some media lists of possible candidates for the South Carolina job, which is open with Steve Spurrier’s decision to resign.

quote:

Dantonio has called MSU a “destination job” in the past, with Texas reportedly interested late in MSU’s 2013 Rose Bowl season. And the 59-year-old Dantonio has said he doesn’t plan to still be coaching by age 70. But he didn’t say anything to kill speculation when asked to open today's news conference about the job.

“Yeah, coach Spurrier has had an outstanding career there,” Dantonio said. “It’s my alma mater, and we’re here to talk about Michigan.”

Even if he were interested, I don't know that he would be the first choice. I think there will be an age max for the position this time.

I didn't realize that CMD's record over the past 3 years is 30-3. CIYE did that research...that is just incredible.

Yeah but Big10 wins are kind of like dog years in reverse.

So that's more like a 10-9 record.

This. USCe is not a top tier job.

Huh? And Michigan St. is?

Need I remind people that before Dantonio built them up they had John L. "Smile" Smith as their HC? and that they only had 2 winning seasons from 2000-2006? (before Dantonio's first year)

From 2010-2013 SC had 42 wins and Michigan St. had 42 wins.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think we get Dantonio, and I don't think he wuld come. I agree that he has the Spartans rolling as a Big 10 and national power. But you guys are acting like we are comparing the Gamecocks to one of CFB's blue bloods. And we're not.

It wouldn't shock me if he came to SC but he has it made only playing one or two ranked teams a year. Harbaugh coming in thouh may drive Dantonio down south and it is his alma mater like you said.
