So by abolishing the use of "Johnny football" he will save himself from losing his eligibility? How about you explain that to me?

You don't think if there was Johnny Football merchandise all over the place for which he owns the trademark to that the press and NCAA wouldn't be all over his arse?

Is school involved in this?
Wasn't LSU involved in Honey Badger and not TM7, also what else does JMan enterprise do? Sounds like future site for coeds gone wild

Johnny Football has been used well before Manziel was even born.

why should random people be able to make money off his name?

Its a friggin nickname, not his legal name. Does he have a trademark/patent on the name?

See my name is John and when I was younger some people called me Johnny. And giess what? I played football too. Hell I even played soccer as well. So to me, that makes me more worthy of the name Johnny football than your Johnny Football. Im gonna be smart though and wait till he sues 10 people for tshirt money, and then once he rakes in I'll just have to sue one person(him) for all his money earned.

My mom always said good things come to those who wait and now it all makes sense. She was a friggin genious!

While he doesn't have a "trademark/patent" on it (I'm not sure what that is), he does have a trademark. You should try reading the thread.

I would add Manziel to the shirts. Johnny Football Manziel. I bet he didn't trademark that.

This sums up the amount of knowledge being thrown around in this thread very nicely.

Someone should flood the market with Johnny Douche-bag t-shirts.

Seriously, this guy is everything people claimed Cam was as far as arrogance and being a douche.

This is the douchery, right here.

Now, Unfortunately players in the NCAA do not get paid royalties when their numbers and names are sold for millions. How many #3 alabama jersey's were sold simply because Trent Richardson was a beast (which he worked his arse off for) yet never received a red cent for. That's the real problem.

However, in this case, Manziel doesn't want to play by the rules that everyone else has (who can blame him) and now he's suing over a nickname. Perhaps something good can come from this but the way he is handling his fame is prickish at best.

JFF was once in an Afgan prison camp. They searched him, found his ID, let him go and promptly bought some tshirts.
