why should random people be able to make money off his name?
Did he come up with the name, himself? Unless it's something his mother called him, it's hard to see how he has a claim to it.

That's like TM7 trademarking Honey Badger when MikeLSU came up with it.

Poster child for a letdown this year. Honey Badger couldn't handle the offseason Press last year either.

This trademark stuff began in the fall because if Johnny and his family do not stop people from selling and profiting off his likeness it will result in serious eligibility issues for him.

Would you say Johnny Football has________to Johnny Manziel compared to the "likeness" of videos games featuring unnamed college athletes?

A) less likeness. C) more likeness
B) the same likeness. D) noodles

If JFF had a dollar and you had a dollar, JFF would kick your arse and take your dollar.

What is the over/Under on A&M fans coming close to calling Manziel's actions douche baggery?

What's the over/under on non-Ag's in this thread that ever learned anything about IP in school. I'll take the under on 2.

ETA: What's the over/under on number of people in that same group who knew what IP was without googling it.

From the responses here you're going to have a lot of writs and decrees defending it.

Then I can call you a douchebag too.

I won't defend it. I'll just make bank off someone else originally coming up with that nickname.

JFF once cried "Wolf", only to sell t shirts to all the villagers who showed up.

Hell no, he will most likely never see a dime, however a ruling in his favor will establish a precedent in his favor and stop everyone and their dog from trying to make money off him and his name.

I don't really have a problem with the lawsuit but Manziel has come off as a huge arse lately. Getting real big for his britches.

I don't know. He has had a nice ride but if he fricks it up with off field issues or he doesn't perform on the field this is over before it began.

If he does well this coming year, either as well or even better, he will have paved the way for him to be his own cottage industry in the state of TX. That's probably a good life, living off of ofa couple years worth of playing in college.

He and his family are obviously thinking years ahead, and I get the y'all's thoughts, but I can't fault him for trying to protect possible future money.

So by abolishing the use of "Johnny football" he will save himself from losing his eligibility? How about you explain that to me? Don't worry, I'll wait.

Ain't gonna be none if he continues doing this. He'll be another prima donna that nobody will care about. Gotta be a little bit likable to people to make money on your name. If it's not made in lawsuits, that is.
