You've got to defend the trademark or else you lose it. Don't have a problem.

Sounds like it. Him, along with his family and lawyers, appear to be all about the cash.
The name "Johnny Football" may begin to mean something different if they keep this up - it may mean "money-driven a-hole."
I hope this goes lawsuit goes places - would love to see Manziel in court. He will get eatin' alive by the national media.

Good for JFF. Buncha socialists in this thread wanting the general public to "share" in other's IP rights.

Lots of commie idiots in this thread. I don't know why you guys are so afraid of the legal system.

It's not really his IP though. He just claimed it from some local sports writer.

why should random people be able to make money off his name?

It very much is his - doesn't matter who thought up the nickname, he is the subject of the nickname. JFF is a marketable brand - the brand is worthless with the nickname alone - it's the substance of him as a great player in connection with the nickname that builds the brand. And that is his property, to which he's afforded legal protection. All he's doing is attempting to enforce that protection - I would do the same thing.

Is this really true? Because if he gave HIMSELF the name and THEN wants to shut down the nickname and prohibit anything sold with the name on it until he leaves college football (so he can make the $$) - then yes, he deserves the title of being a certifiable prick.
He may be able to do it, but it still makes him a prick.

This is the icing on the cake that solidifys him as a douche. He was a douche for taking only "on-line" classes. If cam newton can come back from the NFL to go attend regular class then I know is broke out pimpled arse can handle it. What the hell is jman2? That sounds like something a broke hood rat in Memphis would name their cardboard cut out recording studio. As far as I know, no college player has ever done this so it really is unprecedented doughyness

Wow. This thread is full of a bunch of uneducated haters who know precisely DICK about trademarks and law in general. Kill yourselves.

For a Parrot Head you sure are mad, maybe it's time to take a trip to a beach and relax a little bit.

Whatever. You are only saying it because he is on your team. Same as AU does with Cam.

Nah you just look like a fool, you would do the same thing in his shoes. Well unless you don't like money.
Posted on 2/23/13 at 8:21 am to KaiserSoze99
The fact that he trademarked after some local sportswriter gave it to him made him a douche, the fact that he's suing makes him a super douche, the fact that he's taking only online classes because he's just too damn popular and awesome makes him an uber douche.
ETA: I'm not sure what level of douche the JMAN2 Enterprises makes. That may be some new level we have not yet witnessed.

If you use douche that many times in one sentence then you may be one yourself.
