Stabler stood in the pocket like a statue and had the patience of Job. Also, he could take a decent hit and get up.

That is what I am saying. So was Stabler for drinking his nose red on the bench. By 27, he had gin blossoms covering his face. That is what heavy liquor drinking can do to some people for some reason.

I'll tell you who used to be really fast before came the panty hose. Namath. He could dunk a basketball in 6th grade and came to Alabama for the first time dressed in a mink coat.

Namath absolutely could not be contained before the devastating knee damage that lasted his entire career. Imagine him running a 4.5, which is what I believe his speed is calculated to have been.

Don't compare Manziel to a Super Bowl winning QB.

JFF gets no sympathy from me, but his early career was doomed when he was drafted by Cleveland, where quarterbacks go to die.

I hope he'll do better somewhere else, and I hope that "somewhere else" isn't Dallas, the most enabling city and team there is. But I do hope the dumbass gets another shot somewhere. We'll see.

I think Manziel is incredibly athletic. Maybe as much as the two greats you mentioned but... I think what was said about his drive is accurate. Furthermore, those other two quarterbacks had teammates. People that trusted them and would put it all out on the field for them. I don't think Manziels character so far exudes that kind of leadership.

The Snake partied, but handled his business. Johnny, no so much. Johnny is a punk. He was a heck of a college football player, though.

Comparing these 2 is like comparing your posting skills with Killz's.

Stabler knew how to be a wild arse and still get his job done. Jonny does not. Case closed.

That's irrelevant. If Stabler put in the effort to be a great NFL quarterback while partying his arse off, he was making his priorities clear

...and back to the OP, and some of the other comments,

You don't just waltz into BDS and beat the number one team in the nation without talent. JM is one talented motherfricker. He's not an idiot or moron or loser or any other pejorative.

He is an ALCOHOLIC. Nothing more.

The smartest, most talented person in the world will suffer the same fate when chained to the same addiction.

Anyone even somewhat familiar with alcoholism knows that JM is acting the part PERFECTLY. He has yet to admit that he has a problem. Until he does, he will continue to make the mistakes he is making. He needs help. This is a problem that he cannot (no space) overcome on his own.

Let's knock off the bullshite. He's not a moron. The guy needs help, period.
