@CecilHurt: Mal Moore, long-time University of Alabama athletics director, died this morning in Durham, N.C., at the age of 73.

I didn't read the recent stories, but I'm assuming his health was the reason he retired?

So Paterno passes away after he's fired from Penn St. Moore passes away after stepping down. What is going on here?

I hate to hear that. He was a great representitive for the University of Alabama! He will be sorely missed.

he had lung issues and was at duke waiting on a transplant. What a great man and his legacy will never be reproduced. As a player, coach and AD he has 10 NC rings in Football alone. God speed.

He has another 3 in gymnastics (i think) and 1 in softball and one in women's golf.
