Are you 16?

Your own school has had worse coaches than a guy who won the SEC and beat Spurrier twice in the same season.

Actually, it would be the younger fans who don't realize how devastating DuBose was to the program. If you just look at the historical records and the one conference championship, you might draw the conclusion that Ears was worse. If you lived through the DuBose years, you have a deeper understanding of what happened. Very few of us would remember the Ears years.

So, no. I'm not 16. Are you?

Brad Scott gave us a 21 game losing streak.

No one can bottom that.

Charley Pell, one of the scummiest of all time.

After pulling a Pete Carroll and ditching Clemson in 1978 before the NCAA shitticane hit, Pell went down to Gainesville, replacing Doug Dickey. Now the first few years were lean no doubt, including an 0-10-1 season, but Pell was a master recruiter and soon had the Gators loaded for the first time in years. When the 1984 season started, the NCAA accused Florida of committing over 100 infractions and that they were investigating. After deciding to leave after the season, Pell was forced to resign his post and Galen Hall took over.

This is where it gets bad. After going 9-1-1, the Gators were awarded their first SEC championship. However, the NCAA in that time discovered over 59 violations and prohibited Florida from playing any bowl games. Because of this ban from the Sugar Bowl, Florida never had a shot at claiming a national title (it would've been possible had Florida beaten Nebraska, they could've been voted champions outright). Nevertheless, 22 national poll selectors declared this team the 1984 national champions. The reward? The SEC coaches elected 6 months after the fact to revoke Florida's SEC title and hold them ineligible for such in the next season. The NCAA then determined that Florida would be on probation from television coverage and bowl games for the next two years, as well as losing 20 scholarships.

The 1985 squad went 9-1-1 again, would've won the SEC and has been selected by a couple of polls as the national champion for that year as well.

Because of Charley Pell's cheating, a possible, if not probable, two national championship opportunities were lost and thus the Gators were plunged into the darkness that was the late 80s.

Please stop lamenting how bad DuBose was. He at least could have winning seasons. Curley Hallman could not. Mike Archer took a recruiting base that was one of the hottest in college football and then totally ignored it.

I think you guys need to look in the mirror at yourselves when it comes to DuBose. He did not start the payoffs to players, etc. That was something that had been going on for years(not just Alabama)...he just happened to be at the helm when it all exploded.

Flaw in your theory: without his cheating, yall would not have been in position to win ANY championships (SEC or National). While he did screw over the program by cheating, he didnt really cost you anything because UF would not have been as talented a team without him.

DuBose was not just coincidentally at the helm when it exploded. I'm not going to say that Alabama had never broken rules before (and neither should you about LSU, or anyone else). But there's no doubt that the brazenness and out of control payoffs were under DuBose. Like so many aspects of his coaching, he had no control or oversight. There was infighting among assistants, and all sorts of disarray. Much of this was because of the humiliating scandal with his secretary, after which DuBose had lost of the respect of the program.

But Bama didn't fire him over the scandal, because he had just won the SEC.

They fired him for going 3-8.

He brought LSU to 6 straight losing seasons for the first time in LSU football history, coaching in 4 of them from 1991-1994. The previous longest losing season streak was 3 from 1954 through 1956.

Moral of the story: Don't hire a Stooge to coach your football team.

This is to easy. Bill Lewis took over a National Championship program and ran it straight into the ground. We went from National Champs in 1990 to 1-10 in 1994.

Took George O'Leary 3 years to build things back up after Lewis was fired. The guy completely wrecked our football program but of course that's what we get for hiring a former ugag coach. Bill Lewis makes Mike Dubose look like Bear Bryant.

Woody's hiring resulted in a Browning 28 gauge changing hands between my dad and uncle.

My uncle was wetting his pants because Woody was getting hired and my dad countered that Woody was getting a lot of credit for riding Bud Carson's coattails.

My uncle swore that MU would win more games that first season than they had the previous year under Powers. My dad said told him he was out to lunch. My uncle proposed a bet and told my dad he could name the terms.

It sure pisses my uncle off every time he sees me carrying that shot gun during quail season.

Did Dubose ever hold a team to less than 120 yards of offense and still lose 42-14?
I'll give Muschamp some credit though, he did a great job with South Carolina this past season.
