We as a fan base are not over confident. Individual posters on here might, but, Germantown Tiger is dumb and doesn't represent us as a fan base, thank God.
We lost a lot on defense last year, a ton. our best players all left in Duke, Beckwith, White and Adams. Not to mention Neil and Godchaux. We have unprovens for the most part behind them. White at linebacker looks like a stud but everyone is young. Aranda had a great year with veteran players. The offense showed some promise. Most of us our optimistic on the future. We shall see...

Not all of us are that confident. I give us the 3rd best odds to win the West behind Alabama and Auburn and that's only because the other 4 teams are dumpsterfires.

Talent and top tier coordinators and supposedly a HC who will let them do their job

A) Jalen Hurts - He is not good. Stats vs LSU: 10/19, O TD, 1 INT, QBR 59.0. (ETA: Etling didn't have a good game either FWIW)
B) LSU's new coaching staff - We lost 10-0 to Bama last season with an interim head coach and a promoted assistant as our OC. We now have a solidified staff and a top-tier OC in Canada, all while retaining our DC Aranda. I think we will score more than 0 points at least, and I think our D will play well again.

I don't think the smart ones are really half as confident as they're saying they are. They're just having fun shite talking because new coaches give them the opportunity to.

Even if that's true, that's not all there is to a football game. I gave other reasons in my edited post. And added his stats.
I wouldn't be confident if I were you. Dude looked terrible against LSU. Not saying Etling is much better but he's more accurate.

The absence of Les Miles pretty much gives an advantage over every team on the schedule except for Bama. Auburn could be pretty good but Gus is an idiot.
