I just don't get this. How many coaches since Vaught have been successful at Mississippi?

Using the logic that someone couldn't do _____ at Mississippi, then they can't do it anywhere, then Tuberville couldn't have had an undefeated season at Auburn.

Yet he did.

I'm not a big fan of the hiring of O, but then I don't like Jimbo, and I'm not sold on Herman. I wish there had been a national search by a professional team to find the best fit - but it didn't happen. What LSU did end up with is a home boy who can recruit. Let's see if he can land an OC and let his coaches coach. Let CEO be the CEO of LSU football.

And at the price he came in at, it won't be hard to let him go in a couple of years if he's not working out. I'm willing to see what he can do. After all, he's already won more SEC games in a less than a season at LSU than he did in 3 years at Mississippi.

Judging a coach by what he didn't do at Mississippi is just dumb. Mississippi sucks arse, and there's nothing anyone can do about that.

Any coaching change was going to shake up recruits, particularly those whose recruiters future is uncertain. But O is a very good recruiter and I think you have to wait until next year's class to judge those abilities.

Thing is, a coach doesn't even have to be successful to have been better than Orgeron at Ole Miss. He took over a program that was winning 61% of its games under the previous regime.

Orgeron was the worst hire Ole Miss made post Vaught. If that is what you are looking for.

Houston Nutt won 24 games and won 9 games two seasons in a row with Orgeron players. Houston Nutt.

Tubberville wasn't bad at Ole Miss. He went 25-20 before taking the Auburn job. He had winning seasons each year except for his second year when they went 5-6.

This is what is blinding LSU fans. Just because someone is from your home state doesn't mean you need to give them the reigns of a multi million dollar football program.

Tommy Tubberville is from Arkansas and I sure as shite do not want him running our program.

What's the difference whether we read it here or on tRant? Half of the posts over there are negative with the hire anyway

Sid, come on...you're smart enough to know the difference.

O was the fifth worst HC in OM history. And the ones that were worse only lasted 1-2 years and occurred in the early 1900's.

But yaw yaw.

2005 - 2007
Ed Oregeron : 3 seasons, 10-25 (3-21), 0 Bowl Games

2008 - 2011

No one ever said you do need to.

How many coaches has LSU had that were home boys? The only one I can think of is Jerry Stovall, and he was a last minute replacement for Bo Rein. It's not like it happens all the time, but all I'm saying is that I'm willing to give him a chance. Really, I don't have much choice. OTOH, the last time LSU promoted an assistant to HC, it didn't work out so well (Archer).

But, again, Orgeron has ALREADY done better at LSU than he did at Mississippi. Can he win the SEC? I'm willing to give him a couple of seasons to find out. My main point is that I'm not going to judge Orgeron by what he did or didn't do at Mississippi - just like I'm not going to judge Saban for what he did or didn't do at MSU - like a lot of people did when LSU hired him.

Oh, and...

Did he improve on that at Auburn, or not?

Yes he improved on that at Auburn. Point is, no coach has been as bad as Orgerin at Ole Miss in a long, long time. LSU just hired that coach to lead their program.

There is a huge difference in 25-20 overall and 10-27 overall. Orgeron also had the better set up, as he followed Cutcliffe who had won at a 61% clip prior to O taking over.

EdO's tenure at Ole Miss was the definition of running a program into the shitter. IMO.

You have a good point. I gotta admit, I have nothing for you. After you blew your two year domination of LSU you immediately returned to a state of irrelevance again.

You are right, fade to black.
