Great time to start letting them loose

We won't. Don't worry about that. I'm guessing Les is actually losing sleep this week thinking about Jennings turning the ball over. He knows if we get -2 or -3 we have not shot even keeping it close. The only thing I will say is our LB and Safety play has dramatically gotten better since MSU mainly due to personnel changes so they might keep us in the game longer than we should be.

You are going to have to go +2 in TO's to win and you must convert those into points. LSU does not have the offense to win this game without some extra chances.

LSU has to play a perfect game. Otherwise I don't see us keeping it within a TD.

This game reminds me of the 2012 Alabama v. LSU game in terms of LSU's ability to pass and the Rebel pass defense.

Coming into that game, Zach Mettenberger had 7 TDs to 4 INTs and had thrown for more than 200 yards only twice, both coming in wins versus cupcakes. Also, Mett hadn't attempted to throw the ball more than 29 times in a game and had not completed more than 19 passes coming into the Alabama game.

The Alabama pass defense had picked off 13 passes and had allowed just 3 passing TDs. No one thought that LSU would attempt to pass that much.

All of a sudden, Mett throws 35 passes, completing 24, for 298 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INTs. In the end, however, LSU's passing proficiency controlled the game for the Tigers.

Alabama won the game, but even pre-Cam Cameron LSU was able to flip the script in playcalling if need be. I'm not predicting Harris/Jennings to throw 35 passes, but I'd be shocked if LSU didn't put the ball up 27+ times on Saturday night.

For the record, LSU has passed more than 27 times in one game this season, and that was due to trailing Mississippi State.

Except in that season, the receivers were the problem, not the QB.

The Tiger receivers, while young, are a talented group. Dural is playing his way into the first round in a season and Dupre and Quinn are just scratching the surface.

They create a matchup nightmare with almost any secondary.

Only if someone kidnaps Hugh Freeze and the entire OM defense.

This. Or a ST TD. I don't see LSU winning by just trading possessions with OM the whole game.

ETA: LSU has a better FG kicker, if it comes down to that.

Ehhhhh, he's having a good season, but I'd be incredibly surprised if he got a first round grade.

He's a third year sophomore and had 145 career yards coming into the season. Redshirted 2012.

I imagine we see him back at LSU next fall.

In case you haven't noticed, a Hugh Freeze Ole Miss team is always ready for LSU.

The only plus from AJ in the passing game is his long ball...that kid has it down, especially to Travin Dural. Don't be surprised to see us try to gain some huge chunks of yards by passing down field a few times. Not many times, we don't want interceptions...but, I expect to see us give it a try at times.

It reminds me of 2011 Bama vs. Kent State.. I'll let you decide which one of us plays which role.

Stick with the run. If Bama had just ran the ball down there throat they beat ole miss easily. Don't give into the temptation that you have to pass. Ole miss scores have been mostly short drives. Because of their run game it is difficult for them to drive the field on good defenses or for them to control the game. They want you to pass. And they feast on the mistakes there. Their def line is very good. But they are undersized. You have to just stick with the run. 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Nothing wrong with punting and playing field position. LSU has the def backs to keep OM in check. Especially if they pressure BO. He's very good when given time. Shake him up. Les has to be content with winning ugly in a close game. Short efficient quick passes when necessary to keep the d a little honest. But they can wear OMs D down and win it in the fourth quarter. Start turning it over and OM will eat them alive.
