Id rather the bama O than the arky O. our Os are all fairly close. We just like to be archaic and 1970s football. I could live with the arky o though

No, but have realistic expectations.
Winning the SEC is pretty realistic. It's not like the SEC is the AFC East. I've witnessed it a few times. Maybe we disagree here, but I just don't see Les winning this conference anymore. If he's around next year, I'll be rooting for me to eat crow.

les got a pass last season for 8-5. i don't think expecting the team to do better than the last two games is unreasonable.

Les will never beat saban again. so Les isn't winning another sec title

You know, looking at this with no horse in the race, I gotta say I'm a little surprised by all of this ACC dickriding going on. Many people on here bash the ACC and the Big Ten, but when one of the premier SEC jobs open up, you want to poach Dantonio from Michigan State, Fisher from FSU and now Larry Fedora from UNC. Come on guys. There's gotta be some talented assistants within the SEC that can be a damn good hire. What about Leach out of Washington State? He's not going to progress much in that conference because he's in a Nebraska-like part of Washington. It's desolate in the Palouse.

I totally agree, at least of the known commodities. My question would be, is he that much of an improvement over Miles and would it be worth the pain and suffering that firing a guy with Miles' resume would cause?
Look, I think Miles is a good coach, and an even better man. However, he is (honestly) living on borrowed time from his past accomplishments. Since 2012, he's gone an ok 19-11 in SEC play, and he's running the risk of finishing 19-13 after this year with two conceivable losses to OM and Aggy.
Less than a 60% win percentage in conference play the last 4 years does not buy you security at LSU (and it wouldn't at Bama or UF either). His last winning season in conference play was 2013. He has quietly become the most mediocre coach in the SEC living on what he did pre-2012.
I think the best route for both parties is for Miles to retire and get out of the way -- don't become a Mack Brown or Bobby Bowden.

is it unrealistic to ask to not get beat 5 times in a row in your biggest game every year? is it unrealistic to ask to not get embarrassed by freaking arkansas?

It seems like most LSU fans think if you guys make the call then he will come.
I heard Paul Finebaum just yesterday say that he thinks Jimbo would definitely accept the offer if LSU made one.
Now, did I say Jimbo would take the offer? No, I did not.
But it's not like it's just LSU fans who think Jimbo is a realistic possibility.
I have no idea how happy Jimbo is at FSU. I have no idea if Jimbo even likes LSU or what his thoughts on Alleva are.
I just know he would be one of the safest hires Alleva could make and would instantly give hope to a fanbase that we might finally develop a passing game.
In reality, Miles is going to get one more year. He has 2016 to get things back on track. But there's fewer and fewer of us left that think he will.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. He had us on the ropes the last 2 times we went to Baton Rouge. I mean, we've lost to Hugh Freeze two years in a row, so.

The key is if our douche AD would be willing to make a hire like Jimbo.
FWIW Alleva's hires that we've seen (mainly been basketball coaches) have been shite choices. We haven't seen him hire a head football coach yet.

I hate Joe Alleva, and really don't trust him to hire a football coach. However, I don't think the power boosters will let him have much say in this. Joe is a weasel but is smart enough to know the raises he has gotten are on the backs of the boosters.

Do me a favor and go look up Saban, Miles and Bert's coaching history on wiki. This ain't runnin' for Governor of Mississippi. We don't need a southern gentleman.

he has had y'all on the ropes but part of that is sabans game plan has been don't let the offense frick up and ruin my chances to win.
In ttown where we use to dominate Nick has shite stomped us twice in a row. Les will never beat Saban again. Nick owns him

I think this is about 90%, unless he some how loses both games

I feel like we lose to ole miss for sure.
Aggy is an interesting case though because the D might get up for it. The o should be able to get some push on this aggy D.
I feel like we beat aggy just because we are their daddy.

Good thread dudes - I was really hoping to get some in-depth responses and you guys delivered. Really interesting situation. I know we are all mortal enemies these days but I have nothing but respect for LSU. I like Miles too, but if I were LSU fans I would feel exactly the way a lot of you feel
