Would LSU folks have concerns about Jimbo being another Miles (assuming you are disappointed in Miles and ready for him to go)?

I just can't quite figure out what I think about Jimbo. Clearly he is an elite recruiter and a good program manager, but is he an ELITE coach? I just don't know. He obviously wouldn't tank a program, but I don't know if he would be at the level that LSU people want a guy to replace Miles to be at. Though, to be frank, the only sure fire guys like that are Meyer and Saban.

I totally agree, at least of the known commodities. My question would be, is he that much of an improvement over Miles and would it be worth the pain and suffering that firing a guy with Miles' resume would cause?

Yep.

I'd be ok with Jimbo if he brought in a top flight DC (and retain Coach O and Wilson). We know the offense would be much better, that's for sure.

Recruiting wouldn't fall off much, if at all, either.

I think he's a much better football mind than Les, but so is just about everyone I think.

The only way to get another Meyer or Saban is to get one that hasn't turned into a monster yet, like a Fuente or Herman or something. But that is like winning the lottery, most of the times you miss on that.

He can recruit and develop quarterbacks. He will hit the road running on recruiting.

If he will come, I'd hire him in a New York minute.

We can do better than Jimbo Fisher. He is a great coach, and we could definitely get him, but I think we can get bigger fish no pun intended

They'd go from having one of the classiest coaches in CFB to one of the slimiest overnight.

So - would 100% be happy firing Miles (and all the awkwardness and public relation issues that might cause) to hire Jimbo?

I'm not saying I disagree, I just think it's something I'd have to think about.

i would feel zero pain and suffering fwiw.

i think most fans want to at least see well coached qb's and an attacking defense. jimbo brings that.

he has coached at LSU before and is familiar with the conference. you move heaven and earth to get him if possible.

well he didn't back into his tittle at FSU, he also rebuilt that program that Bowden was working on ruining.

He lost to Ga tech on an amazing fluke. I would be lead to believe he would be just fine here. He could probably recruit a qb to fit our system

Worth it after the pain and suffering of watching our quarterbacks fail to develop year after year.

Yea, but there would definitely be a period of "LSU IS UNREASONABLE BLAH BLAH" from the national media. I mean, in the end who gives a rats arse if you get a guy who comes in and does what you want, but I think you want to be sure you are trading up and not making an even swap.

He seems to run a more functional offense and defense to me than Miles. He will still lose some games, but it appears there will be less losses due to complete lack of awareness on what is happening on the field. Just my opinion

what would it cause? everyone knows les is fricking retarded and he has had multiple assistant coach failures in hiring.

If we get Jimbo we would win at a slightly higher clip and we wouldn't have things like spike it in 09 vs ole miss

It seems like most LSU fans think if you guys make the call then he will come. This is not a knock against LSU but I don't see why he would leave what he has at FSU right now. I think the LSU job is better than the FSU one but he seems to like it there. I'm not sure about how much he is making right now compared to what LSU can offer so maybe that will have something to do with it.

LSU should learn from bama on this.

you zero in a the guy you want and you do whatever it takes to get him.

media criticism is nothing if you bring in the right guy and he wins.

saban has left miles behind. not saying jimbo is a better coach than nick but i think he's one of the few guys who can help us catch up.

i don't see the big deal as long as Jimbo wins, which he would do.

He hasn't really had any shite the bed moments lately that i can remember.
