While he would be a good fit I don't see why he would leave FSU. Easier conference, can recruit the same players, they can pay just as much as LSU, and they won't want to fire him after losing 2 games. Miles isn't leaving after this year and Jimbo more than likely won't be the next coach the quicker LSU fans realize that the better they will feel.

He's been fed up with the Florida State administration in the past for the failure to spend money on the program. Who knows.

He has ties to LSU, I think that is the big thing pushing his name.

Just FWIW, I think that Jimbo would definitely be an upgrade over Miles. I think he might be the 3rd best recruiter in football behind Saban and Meyer. He would sign QB's. FSU is competent on both sides of the ball.

It feels like Jimbo and FSU tend to have a lot of go through the motion games (outside of their MNC year), though that could be due to the ACC. Also, like others said, he had to start that thing from the ground up after Bowden wrecked it.

Would be interesting to say the least.

I dont know why either. I know he went through a terrible divorce, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Yea, and people don't realize that FSU is just not in the same league financially as schools in the SEC. They are much more like an "ACC Program" money wise than, say, Clemson is. Their fan support is tepid, they don't sell out the majority of their games.

Also, Jimbo has a lot of Saban in him. The idea that he would shy away from a school because of competition seems to be very improbable.

Ya, I totally understand why the name is getting brought up just didn't know if there was anything else to it.

I tend to agree, but Nebraska fired Solich at 9-3 and didnt even let his arse coach the bowl game When boosters truly get pissed, that is all she wrote

It seems like most LSU fans think if you guys make the call then he will come. This is not a knock against LSU but I don't see why he would leave what he has at FSU right now. I think the LSU job is better than the FSU one but he seems to like it there. I'm not sure about how much he is making right now compared to what LSU can offer so maybe that will have something to do with it.

Good post and I agree. Unless Jimbo is just tired of being at FSU I don't see it happening.

Solich did zero at Nebraska, though. He was never beloved like Les. And nobody really thought this was LSU's year, anyway. That's where I'm confused.

So - would 100% be happy firing Miles (and all the awkwardness and public relation issues that might cause) to hire Jimbo?

Depends on how its done.

Don't know for sure, but his name has clearly been thrown out in the last year or two for other jobs and there have been enough people I read on blogs/writers who suggest that he is open to listening to other big jobs if they are right.

Again, who knows, that could all be crap.

Also could be that Jimbo shits out qbs while miles is a lost clown when it comes to qb.

I think Jimbo would be a great fit here, he could bring in a younger oc who could morph our offense into something that resembles what Kiffen has done at bama. We would still be a power offense predicated on running but with a competent pass game that feeds off the run.

He is great at recruiting, better offensive mind than les, seems to be less loyal to bad coaches. Its a pretty safe choice that is also very good.

He probably has a greasy rep now because of how Winston was allowed to abuse him but we aren't paying him to be a sweet man. We are paying to win football games. He hasn't lost to any shitty ooc teams so we should be just as fine at crushing regular season ooc teams under him. He doesn't have a team in the acc that owns him like les has bama and arky owning him. I think he would put up damn near the same win percentage.

Les isn't really beloved at LSU. It has always been split since he was hired. A large faction were pissed about the hire in 05. He put some of that to bed until 08 and 09. He got some of that off his back in 11 until he shite the bed in the nc. Now he is back to 08 level.

And LSU is much easier to attract top talent to.

Yep. Im not saying Les will get fired, but it has been shown before that nobody is safe at a big program once boosters get the redass
