I don't care one way or the other. But you could just as easily say what would have happened if LSU played Vandy instead of Florida in '06?

You think that beating Florida is some how instantly better then beating Georgia or Kentucky. The fact is it isn't any different because we have a CHAMPIONSHIP game that will make you face the best team from the East anyways. I would much rather have a chance at a conference championship every year then not.

2006: 10-2 Lost UF(UF beat Arky in the championship game). LSU makes it to that game if they don't play UF in the regular season.

Thats just how it works out dude. Not our fault Florida is stronger then Kentucky.

Agreed, its not our fault that UF is stronger than UK. I just hated going thru the Tebow era @ UF every year.

What im wondering is who else is coming with aTm? if this deal goes down.

Agreed, we could go on and on. When you have the best team in the land, it doesn't matter who you play. That is why I like to play Florida every year. I know, that when LSU gets a chance to play for a title, they will have EARNED it. As a competitor, I don't see how anyone could feel otherwise. As a fan, I can understand people who are only interested in titles.

That is your opinion and we will never know what Les Miles would have done with the time to prepare better.

Ok, then we still would have played for the NC in 07. That's fun.

And for the record, I think we would have had a great shot to beat them in Atlanta.

no one knows for sure but fwiw, i highly doubt we lose to florida at a neutral stadium... playing at florida in 06 really had a major impact on that game....and the two bullshite TD's stolen from us by the refs in the 2nd quarter

You will get to play them...for a championship if they are as good as you that year.

Yeah because you know...winning games doesn't sell tickets which doesn't give TAF money, who doesn't then give some to LSU. BCS Bowl payout/Tv Revenue/Recruits > Peach Bowl.

The goal is to win championships and to win them in any means necessary within the rules. It doesn't matter how you got there as long as you win.

Would you rather us not play any small schools(North Texas, Tulane, ULM, etc) and just start to schedule Oregon, Oklahoma, USC, and so on each year so that if in the ungodly event you manage to go undefeated(which you never will) you can be a title team?

Or would you rather actually have a chance to play for a title?

[quote]additional TV markets = more $. On a lesser note, the additional exposure supposedly helps recruiting too. quote]

I'll admit my info on A&M is now a little dated (9 months). But I'll tell you what the facts were last fall.
First, A&M academia wanted to go to the PAC-12/16.
Second, the athletic dept wanted to go to the SEC.
Third, I believe the people with SEC ties in the football dept are now gone.
Fourth, finanically that conference is a mess, the deal they cut with TX to keep them from joining the PAC-12/16 really put a finanical imbalance in the conference.
Fifth, the first team I'd expect to see jump would be Missouri. You should take a look at how they got shafted in the deal. Bebe flat lied to Missouri.
Sixth, the state legislature will likely step in if A&M trys to go jump ship.
Seventh, TV exposure? Have you been to College Station? Population without A&M students, staff and support businesses is 150 (those are at the Bush Library).

That's enough for now.

Note: I worked with A&M for about 10 years. My exposure to people at A&M was fairly high up on the food chain. Good people at A&M I wish them well what ever they do.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then. I know that when October 8th rolls around this year, I am going to be about 10x more excited about the opponent across the field than I would be about almost any other opponent in the conference.

A&M to the SEC would only be half the story though....they can't come alone.

So who is the other team going to be?

Clemson.

That is ignorant. A&M is represented all over the state, especially in Houston and DFW. Those are huge markets.

Good point.

Why is it assumed that Aggies come if they want to? They can't come alone. I've heard that OK can't/won't come without OK State (don't know why, can always play as OOC game), and the East would have to add two. Since the point would be to add large media markets, that eliminates FSU. [GT, NC NC State OR UV would work, and they bring good basketball & baseball programs].
LSU (and SEC is already strong in Houston). And what about the already existing TV & other media contracts?
Just some thoughts & questions.
