Calipari did meet with two UK administrators at his house yesterday, sources told CBS Sports. One source briefed on those conversations said the messaging from UK's end was clear in that there was no salvaging matters, if ever there was a desire to anyway. Time to split.

How can you try and negotiate a potential counter-offer with your current employer while simultaneously not informing your current employer you are on the verge of leaving?
The violation of his contract isn't just not telling about negotiation, it's about not telling about contact at all.
It's entirely feasible he didn't initially tell Barnhart about Arkansas making contact that he was entertaining (which is still violation of the contract) and then one it all broke he sat down with UK officials today and asked for the counter offer.

Looks more like sour grapes by Kentucky and their media. Reported that Cal was going to get fired. Boosters pledged the $33MM. Fans were celebrating.
