Only stadium I've been to that rivals LSU is UF.

We were 13 rows behind the LSU bench. No where near the noise of Death Valley. The crowd gets into it, but agree that the stadium design does not hold the noise in the stadium.

And I'm very impressed with the volume in UF's stadium. It traps in the noise really well. LSU-UF 2010 was super loud when I went. But Kyle Field is nowhere close to either from what I've heard.
ETA: If that rendering is accurate, I think that'll be awesome. They desperately need an upgrade/expansion. The facilities just are NOT good...

I was very unimpressed but it was 11am kick off so I will give A&M the benefit of the doubt.
With a student section that large the noise should be monstrous but it was overall meh.
The fight song even though it is about UT was cool as shite.

Have not been to BR in over a decade, but Neyland was loud as hell last night. Don't remember being impressed with Tiger Stadium then, but you guys weren't good yet. Of course Bryant-Denny is never going to be one of the loudest. Swamp is damn loud, but Neyland is still the loudest I have been to recently.

On top of our recent rise back to the top of relevancy, we've also added 12,500 seats to Tiger Stadium since then.
If you find a ticket, come to BR.

I was at the game...it was nowhere near as loud as the LSU vs South Carolina game this year. In my opinion.

I've been to Neyland for a Top Ten match up, and left unimpressed... by damn near everything. Well, the Tennessee river scene was nice.

As others have said, there are a lot of gaps for the noise yo escape. Our renovations are supposed to fix this problem

Night games >>>>> 11 am games. The stadium does have an open end but it's steep between the goal lines. 30,000+ students right on top of you it gets very loud.
One of the goals of the new stadium is to bring the seats closer, close the other end and trap as much sound as possible. Students are a lot louder than the other seats and I expect the new stadium to be top 3 loudest in the country.

When is the expansion set to be complete? Just an FYI, Tiger Stadium is also enclosing one of their end zones. The South Endzone, which is opposite the student section. Should create even MORE noise! It'll be exciting one that is done. Ours is scheduled to be complete in 2014.

I personally didn't think this game was that loud where I was, the season ticket area right beside the visitors section on the student side. I am sure it was much louder near the middle obviously.
I remember games back when I was a student that sounded more like a pulsing wave which you could feel. During those games you couldn't hear yourself yell.
We really need to get rid of the track so the field can be lowered and the stands built closer and steeper..Kyle field, other than the top section of the north endzone is not steep.
As far as when will it be done, don't know yet for sure as iwhat exactly they are going to do hasn't been released. I don't know if they are planning on starting after next season or after 2014, but I bet it takes about three years to complete. I see them doing it south endzone in year one, then do another side each following year.

I've been to Neyland Stadium and other stadiums on the level.. Kyle is every bit as loud for the right games. The real draw is how unique our fans are. It is just different than any other stadium, and I always thought it fit the SEC far more than the big 12.
It is safe to say that night games are >>>>> than day games at Kyle. I know it just feels different when the sun goes down(and everyone has been drunk at the tailgate all day.)

I've been to Death Valley for two games, the 1988 and 1992 games against A&M. '88 was a night game and '92 was a day game. First, the 1992 game was a big disappointment. Death Valley was an average big college stadium... nothing more.
The 1988 game was something else. We were surrounded by groups of drunk coonasses yelling "Tiger Bait" the entire walk from the car to the stadium. I was 16 years old and wondering just how drunk these people were (like, was I in physical danger).
I watched people carrying in huge coolers unchecked (which I realize no longer happens). The entire place reeked of Bourbon. We had the had questionable fortune of sitting in the end zone, directly below where the 2nd deck began. The fans above us were dumping drinks on us the entire time. And yes, it was very, very loud.
I grew up in Beaumont, TX, only 30 miles from Louisiana, and I loved LA. In high school, if we needed beer for a party, we would drive to Hebert's convenience store in Vinton, and stock up. Mr. Hebert would always greet us "How are things at Kelly High School, boys?"
What I don't know if your average coonass realizes is that that shite doesn't fly outside of Louisiana. The Baptists run Texas. If you are publicly intoxicated at Kyle Field, they will throw your arse in jail. If you dump your drink on someone at a game, they will throw your arse out of the stadium. Even if you're in maroon, the other Ags will show the cops who you are. If you're drunk when that happens, then you will spend the night in the drunk tank.
Kyle Field will never have that element of "What's going to happen when you get 80k people together (I haven't been to LSU post expansion), and they're all as drunk as humanly possible?" Frankly, I'm glad that it won't. If you go to a game at Kyle Field as a visiting fan and don't start shite, you will generally be treated very well. I think that's a good thing.
I remember a few years back. It's probably been close to ten years by now. Auburn played at LSU, and there were wide spread reports of the kinds of stuff that I experienced back in 1988. Skip Bertman issued an apology to Auburn and promised that things would change. I've often wondered if they have.
Oh, and I've been to the 1991 baseball regional and the 2004 baseball super regional at the old Alex Box, and it's nothing like football. LSU fans are some of the most gracious baseball people I've ever hung out with.
