guess why i dont really remember then.

We don't have anything even close to a rich basketball history. Prior to the 2004-2005 season, basketball was just a novelty to pass the time between football season and baseball season.

In fact, there were a couple of years when I was in school that the football team had more wins than the basketball team did.

Acie Law

You still lose at the Basketball Palace of Mid-America, just like everybody else.

Good assessment Al.

End-of-season predictions:

In:
1. Florida (they are awesome)
2. Kentucky (great talent no chemistry)
3. Mizz (talented, veteran)
4. Ole Miss (solid offensively and defensively)

Bubble:

5. Alabama (don't know if they can shoot it well enough)
6. Tennessee (offense is atrocious)

NIT:

7. LSU (unproven but solid talent)
8. Arkansas (talented, shouldn't they be better?)
9. TAMU (no idea but I assume they aren't a bottom feeder)

It is important to remember the bottom feeders of the conference will absolutely kill everyone's RPI, pwning the bubble teams like Alabama, Ole Miss, and UT.

He was also the main reason you guys had your highest ranking in history and matched the farthest you've ever gone in the NCAAT.

A&M has to be considered a bubble team until they show otherwise. They are better than most of you think.

survey says....no. you dont come off a 14-18 season and get to claim bubble status. prove it first. maybe if you hadnt gotten blown out by the only good team youve played, the perception would be different.

right. without analyzing their schedule they've probably only played one team that made the tourney last year (this could be wrong, just guessing) and they lost by more than 20.

We had made the NCAA tourney for 6 straight seasons prior to last year, a year in which we were decimated with injuries and lost our head coach for a large part of the season.

This year, we will enter conference play with one (maybe two) losses and a high rpi.

I'd be shocked if it stayed high (or even good) though based off looking at your nonconference slate.

agreed, its nothing to write home about. not saying aTm doesnt have potential to be a bubble team, but at this early stage theyre still looking up at ole miss and bama, in a group with us and prob lsu depending on this hickey situation. just have to see how the SEC plays out.

I just started going through the thread and this is what I thought about each time LSU was brought up. Gotta hope we fix it before SEC play.

Looking at our schedule, the only remaining non-conference game that should be in question is Oklahoma on the road.

We'll end up either 11-2 or 12-1 going into conference play.

Arkansas - 2 wins. You would be foolish to discount the Melvin Watkins curse, which will reach 30 consecutive games this season

Kentucky - 2 losses. We might be able to steal one at home, but that's doubtful.

Alabama - Split. We could win in Tuscaloosa, but not likely.

Florida - Loss.

LSU - Split, although we could take both.

Ole Miss - Split, although we could take both.

Vanderbilt - win

Auburn - win

Georgia - win

Tennessee - win

South Carolina - win

Mississippi State - win

Missouri - I'd say loss for now, although it is in Reed so we could steal it.

Best case conference scenario: 14-4.

Worst case conference scenario: 10-8.

That would put us at 25-5 best case scenario going into the SEC tournament or 21-10 worst case scenario going into the SEC tournament.

This was before the Oklahoma game when we were exposed and the last two games when we were exposed further.

Prior to the Rice game in 2011, I thought we'd have 10 losses in conference at worst. After that game I said we'd be lucky to win 5 (we won 4 + the one game in the tournament).

Best case scenario (honestly) is 0fer and a new head coach.

Worst-case scenario: .500 and Kennedy gets another year.

Before today, I thought "surely there's no way that Kennedy, in his second year in the program, would ever have another humiliating loss like against Rice last season at home with a far more talented team".

It's clear that Gillispie and Turgeon spoiled me with basketball teams that actually play well and are coached well.

I don't see us making the tourney if Maymon does not get back.

With Maymon I see us around 12-6 in league play. Without him we are about .500.

Our defense is good enough to play with anybody, but our offense is ugly without Maymon. But the team will improve because they've had to learn to play without him, when/if he comes back they'll be a force to be reckoned with.

With Maymon, Tourney for sure

Without Maymon, Tourney possible, and I think probable.
