Les is for real a great guy. Doesn't wear his religion on his sleeve, but lives it. I'm a huge Les fan, unlike other coaches who talk a lot of BS, and then have their team do classless shite on the field.

Hopefully Saban and Alabama will get behind this next week and figure out a way to get this kid to the game quickly and safely God willing.

Les miles- he is awesome for this.. I look up to the coach and kid for this.. This kid is fighter, I have tears in my eyes. Live everyday like its the last. I am 26 dealing with cancer for 13 years. You just never when your day will come. Someone always has it worse than you. Praying for this family and Sid. I hope you get to see the LSU and Bama and God works miracles so hope you see more games than that.

If it weren't for Steve Shaw Les would have a winning record against Bammer

Thanks coach. You are gaining a lot of fans here in a Birmingham.
We have a great coach and an even better human being.

Opposing coach or not, I will miss him when he retires some day. He is a class act and fun guy.
I'm hoping he becomes an on-air personality afterwards.

I'm guessing it was the Aggy who got bashed earlier in the thread. His post was whacked.

I hope the fact that he is guaranteed admission to the game gives him enough to hang in there...as a Dad, this just kills me.
Wish there was something WE could do...hire him and his folks a limo or something.
Something. Anything.

Damn what a way for him to go if he sees his Tigers beat Alabama in Bryant Denny.
This whole thing has just served as a reminder of what college football, or sports in general, really is. To most, it's a game, an escape from reality, and that's it. For this kid, the 3-4 hours he's watching LSU football he isn't thinking about the pain, he's not thinking about his fate, he's just watching LSU football. Same thing when he is on the phone with Les (once again Les) When I think about that, I can't even be mad if he gets to watch LSU beat Alabama in Bryant Denny. How could you be?
It's amazing to drive through Mountain Brook these days and see purple and gold ribbons tied to the mailboxes. These are Alabama/Auburn grads that realize it's just a game but to this kid it is so much more. They've been there for months and I think the only way they're coming off is if they fall/rot off.

Tearing up over here. Hate to see a kid have to go through this. Good for Les.

Can't see what he said, but must have been terrible. If so, get out of here.
I of course want Bama to win, but I hope this kid makes it and sees a victory for LSU.

Miles = great guy
Well f**k. That sucks. Prayer sent.

In August 2014, Sid was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, or bone cancer. He went to a summer basketball camp and returned complaining of tightness in his knee. Since it was a week before Sid's freshman year at Mountain Brook High School, his parents decided to take him to the doctor to get it checked out. In less than 24 hours, on Aug. 6, they had a diagnosis – bone cancer. Only about 400 children ages 20 and under hear those words each year.
Friends filled their home that night, and they prayed. Those prayers have continued en masse, worldwide, for the past 14 months.
On Sunday, with nothing medically left to stop Sid's aggressive cancer, he made the decision to go home. "I was really scared about coming home, but it's been the best thing we ever did,'' Lynn Ortis said. "It's been beautiful. There's been so much peace here. "

I just have a good feeling that this young man is going to get his wish. He will see an epic game in Bryant Denny and see his Tigers beat Bama! Not only that but see one of the best all time running backs in SEC history put on a show just for him!!! GOD is with you SID!!!

Again, I want Bama to win, obviously. But, it's only a game (at this point, this is more) so I would much rather have LSU win for this kid as he might not get another chance.
