Like Gurley's accuser, he's likely getting screwed out of money because of Tunsil cutting him out or an agent saying to cut him out. Who knows but that'd be the most likely motive.

This.

Stepdad realizes the relationship with Tunsil's mom is deteriorating, and with it so is his potential meal ticket when Tunsil gets paid in the draft. There's probably no hope for him fixing the relationship so instead of just accepting being cut out of the money he is trying to make sure nobody gets any if he can't have some.

Pretty shitty. But NCAA isn't doing anything unless they have proof. Crazy stepdad screaming he got paid isn't going to get it done.

If crazy accusations were enough to get convictions EliteDawgs would be the investigative arm of the NCAA for all the undercover OM cheating operations they've uncovered.

People say this, but Dez Bryant and AJ Green missed a TON of games combined on much less than this. It just depends on how the school handles the investigation.

The NCAA's star witness in the Albert Means case against Alabama was a high school coach who tried to sell fat Albert to the highest bidder in the first place. The NCAA can and will use the word of people with very questionable character to put schools on probation. You are kidding yourself if you believe otherwise

think about the Pandora's box that would open if they took a crazy mad relatives word on this case. All of a sudden every 5 star recruit would have a crazy uncle or cousin threatening they'll turn them in for cheating if they don't get some money. NCAA doesn't want to deal with that crap.

They won't take his word, it'll come down to what they can prove. If he can put together any kind of written proof or a large discrepancy in finances it's over

Why does the NCAA care? They will do what they always do. Cherrypick cases and screw up the vast majority of them. The latest Miami thing blows my mind.

The NCAA doesn't give two fricks about recruiting violations.

They do if it involved a school having knowledge of a player being paid. What's likely is that the NCAA is only snooping around for agent involvement, in which case worst case scenario is that Tunsil is ruled ineligible and Freeze looks like an arse for prematurely tweeting out stuff when he should have been keeping his mouth shut.

That's worst case scenario if he signed with the agent or received a lot of gifts/money.

Worst case scenario if the only thing they have is taking a ride from an agent.....he pays the agent a fair compensation for the ride and has to sit for a game or a few...

Playing him & THEN finding out he was not eligible would be even worse.

Depends on how Ole Miss cooperates and if the NCAA feels anything is being held back. Also depends on dollar amount that the ride was deemed to be worth and if they also bought him dinner, gave him clothes, etc. AJ Green was up front and cooperative and still missed games on top of paying back the money he received for the jersey he sold.

Like I've been saying, there's no rhyme or reason to what's about to happen. All it takes is for someone to have an axe to grind and the audacity to turn a high profile guy in for an NCAA investigation to get cooking. And once they're in the kitchen, there's no way of knowing how it's going to shake out.

It also depends on when they determine this was all he received. If it's two or three games into the season, OM had best not play Tunsil until he's cleared as a sign of good faith.

We'd go 3-1 with or without him....

I'm perfectly fine with us sitting him those games. Several OM fans have said the same.

Two things on that:

1.) It was an overzealous investigator that blew it by using subpoena power the NCAA didn't have. I wouldn't bank on them making that same mistake twice.

2.) The NCAA actually went way out of their way to willingly turn a blind eye to the massive pile of shite that had been swept under Miami's rug, all because of an investigative overstep. I don't know if it was fear of a civil suit filed by the University or a fear of their perceived authority being undermined (totally laughable considering everything else facing them, now), but they would have been within their rights to still levy heavy sanctions based on most of that evidence. All told, they still screwed that Miami program up something awful just by leaving the investigation cloud hanging over the program for so long.

And that's cool. Just don't be surprised if the NCAA stretches it out for a month. Happened to AJ Green, happened to Gurley.
