I'm not too concerned about Collins and his status with the NFL. I just hope that the authorities arrest and convict the guilty party. Killing a pregnant woman and the child she's carrying is a heinous act.

I don't understand how it'd be bad press? It's just a draft. ONBVIOUSLY if he murdered a girl the team who drafts him will have nothing to do with him. He'd go on trial and be done in the NFL. What's the big deal about drafting him? He either did something bad, or he didn't. frick people who would get mad at a team taking him at this point.

I agree. I didn't even know that he was actually having his stock hurt by this until this thread.

If this young man is cleared and had nothing to do with this terrible crime, the BRPD shoukd be held accountable

If he is innocent he should sue his agent. If not doesn't matter. His agent must be concerned o this could have been cleared up in 2 hours

What sucks is he was totally good enough to be drafted last year, but he was one of the very few LSU players who stayed for his senior year. Les wanted to make an example out of him, but I guess it won't happen now
His staying accomplished exactly what it was supposed to
Couldn't plan for the unfortunate circumstances that have happened

There's a reason why he isn't drafted... The kid might be innocent, but I guarantee you the NFL has inside information on this case...

He is a suspect in a murder investigation. He will not be drafted.

Then don't you think a team would take a chance on the kid if he wasn't?

Last I read, he is not a suspect, and wasn't even keyed as a person of interest. Just someone who had a past with the woman and might be able to provide information that could help the investigation.

Remember when those Auburn players were "harassing" that "disabled" "veteran"?
He wanted to burn those kids at the stake, but when the real story came out, he was quiet as a mouse fart.

But can anyone explain to me why La'el Collins still hasn't been drafted given that a few analysts had him going in the first round?
Within the last two weeks a dreadful murder of a 29 yr old woman and her unborn son occurred as she answered the door to her apt. Collins has allegedly been linked to her as a former boyfriend. LC also has been allegedly proven to have been out of town at the time of the murder and hence "is not a suspect at this time" per BRPD. BRPD tried to contact him for questioning to help shed more light on this case while he was enroute to Chicago for the draft. ESPN's Adam Shefter published on twitter that the BRPD wanted to question him about the investigation. Collins instantly became radioactive waste and nobody was willing to risk a high draft on this situation. Collins returned to BTR and the BRPD told him they were not ready to question him and it could wait until after the draft...
Everything beyond that is pure speculation at this point.
Collins' agent told NFL clubs not to waste a draft pick beyond the third round on him because he would not sign and would re-enter the draft in 2016. Financially, when you look at a 1-2nd round contract versus a 4+ round contract it is the correct move for him.

I hope it works out for the kid I really do but something isn't adding up here. I guess it could be just the worst possible timing in the guys life.

I hope it all gets cleared up soon. He has never been in any trouble to the public knowledge and has been a standard bearer for the program. I hope he is just a victim of social media and can resolve these issues satisfactorily.
