The Texas legislation makes the flagship designation using such variables as: national Tier One academic research standing, AAU affiliation, and various metrics from the Center for Measuring University Performance and the Center for World Class Universities in Shanghai.

2nd time I am asking for a link to this "designation". I see flagship used pretty loosely in articles but you've talked about this Texas legislation designation a few times.

My apologies.
I didn't see your previous request.
I have it on paperwork on my computer from a meeting I attended (want a screenshot?).

I honestly have no clue where it is on the THECB website.
I'm sure if you dig, you can find it.
It's a horribly non-user-friendly site.

I find the Tier One definitions, but no legislation HB1000, for example, that refers to "flagships".

We clearly have multiple Tier One universities in the state. And we have flagships of each university system.

So the flagship university of the STATE of Texas? That's a matter of perception. Unless your link clarifies it.

I just Googled several words from the document I have on my computer.
The first link (containing similar verbiage) directs to a Texas Tech site--which isn't surprising, since they're making a yeoman's effort to up their status.
HB 51.
Again, if you have the stomach to dig through the THECB stuff, it has to be there as well.

Doesn't look like it is in the text of the bill, but is mentioned ("also known as flagships) in the commentary.

You've been a productive little whorn this afternoon.

With LSU fans bleeding everywhere you were still able to distract Aggies with your stupid obsession.

Texas A&M's your Daddy, it is a fact, deal with it

By largest, I assume you mean most students? Has A&M always had more students then TU? I could have sworn they didn't back in the eighties. Am I wrong?

Good stuff.
An element in our state very clearly wants to increase research funding to allow for the possibility of additional Tier One research universities (similar to California & Virginia).
The term flagship seems to be headed towards obsolescence.
Which is fine with me.
Success begets success, and the state will only continue to thrive as more of our IHEs increase their quality.

Enjoyed the conversation.

I'm not sure what other metric you would use.

And yes, A&M has grown at an amazing rate due to smart leadership.

Happy to just identify the standard misinformation about A&M being the oldest.

Not that anyone on this board doesn't see you for the drooling village idiot you are.

The fact that you spend your free time looking for affirmation from Texas A&M fans tells us all who the idiot is.......

"Affirmation from Texas A&M fans?" I don't think anyone on these boards is looking for that. At least not the sentient posters.

Like LSU.

Lol, strong had more 5 and 4 star senior and junior recruits than any team in the big 12 this year and he let them all smoke pot until they were worthless.

He's just gonna rinse and repeat

Mack brown would have never put up with the drug culture strong has enabled
