So, in your opinion, do you believe Saban's dislike of the HUNH is related to player safety or to his personal football philosophy about "blocking and tackling" and "not being a continuous sport like soccer" and about a "sense of fairness" and the "real advantage" it creates for the offense?

Its about all of the above.....and he has been on the record about all the issues he doesn't like.

Just say you didn't get the meaning-I'm not surprised. You're still looking through your corndog glasses. You can't handle the truth.

Which leads someone to question the sincerity of a statement like:

quote:

"Everybody's trying to characterize what I'm trying to say and crawl into my head, but I can't emphasize enough that the player safety issue is what's at issue here."

While in the same interview saying talking about his fondness of football being mostly about "blocking and tackling."

Alabama fans aren't the only ones treating the Louisiana-Monroe loss as a monumental event.

Coach Nick Saban described the humbling defeat in almost apocalyptic terms Monday, mentioning the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and Pearl Harbor in talking about how his team must rebound like America did from a "catastrophic event."

EXACTLY MAN THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN TRY TO SAY!!

The obvious health concerns with having to watch and scheme against HUNH teams can cause prolonged dementia

So glad you see it Beaver

I would hope player safety is ingrained at all levels of the program, weights, practice, instruction, nutrition.

Not sure what type of "program" you are asking about.

You may be right. I recently heard him say that he couldn't remember the last time he lost to LSU or Ole Miss.

I don't know the heirarchy of reasons for his dislike of the HUNH. He has always said both reasons, contrary to your assertions. So I guess both.

He is obviously ultra competitive and two of his strengths are using specialty packages on defense and calling pre-snap audibles on defense. I'm not denying that he has competitive motives here. Just like the HUNH loved the 2008 play clock rule change because it was to their advantage. I just find it hilarious that people (not really you by the way) seem to get so worked up over him giving his opinion, which has been very consistent for at least a couple of years now.

He isn't voting on any rule change.

He makes sure all their cars have top notch air bags and big rims for smoother rides.

I am not sure what your point is other than your hatred of all things Bama and Saban. The guy has a philospohy about the game as a defensive minded coach.
