Same here. Believe it got up to 80-81 yesterday here in Louisville.

It's supposed to be even colder tomorrow. Can't wait until we get a decent frost. The bugs have been unbearable here all summer.

I'd rather it be 100 degrees than 50.

100 degrees here and it's so close you can't stand to breathe.

Give me some 50s-60s where I can get out and really enjoy it.

I'm in LEX...damn cold this morning.

Question to the Wildcats: What is the best spot to watch the LSU game when I leave Commonwealth?

TIA

I like them but not as much as the other combo. At the very least I think it's better when we wear them at night. Good day to wear them though with the temps.

It is not the question of just paying Strong as Joker is getting close to that right now. It is the total cost of the entire staff plus all the recurring costs in a conference where it is hard to remain at the top without displacing another team to do it. If Cincinnati displaces Pitt the cost is tiny compared to Kentucky trying to displace Florida or Georgia

It would be a NATIONAL corporate bidding war to put their name on Rupp. No doubt. THAT financial increase would pay an entire football staff other than the HC. Possibly even pay some of his salary too.

The "poor ole Kentucky" syndrome is new to me. I'm all too familiar with "poor ole State" though.

No one is saying you have to displace a Georgia or Tennessee longterm. That is just as asinine for you as it is for me to think State can displace Auburn or Arky longterm. Longterm perception is not the same thing as shortterm reality though. You've just got to field a consistently competitive team. Rich Brooks did this for the most part. Put out a consistent 7-8 win program, and you will occasionally have the stars align to do something more. At the very least, you keep Commonwealth full.

I'm a fan of about 75 degrees, low humidity.

Yesterday was nice with 80 and low humidity. 90% of the time we can't get it without the humidity in these parts.

Winchell's is close enough and should have the game on. They're usually good for a beer and some wings in the process.

I usually hang out at the tailgate post-game and then head back to Louisville so I might not be the best person to ask.

ETA: Just say frick it all and head over to Keeneland. Last post is 5:53 today. You can watch it there and enjoy the ponies too.

So how long have you been working for (or with) UK's Athletic Department?

I have fought with them since most on here were in diapers but if you want to keep deflecting then feel free. Being a fan means being there in the bad and you stay at home. Look at all the Cock fans that still went to the games when they won 1 game in 2 seasons.

Women's Basketball doesn't pay the bills hence my ire towards the money poured into it.

Guess what, almost no sports program pays the bills. The difference with WCBB at UK is that it comes closest to breaking even and it requires much less capital to operate. Memorial is already paid off, Joe Craft allowed them to piggy back women's facilities cost on the men's program, and they are selling out their venue so your focus on the women is wasted breath. Every time the Lady Vols program gets a broadcast spot on ESPN it is worth between 500K and 1 million in free advertising for the exposure. Think of it as a 2 hour infomercial selling the Vol brand and Vol merchandise to the entire globe. Multiply that by the 10 games UT got in the regular season last year and the numbers add up. If Matthew gets an extra 250 K and it gets UK on ESPN once it was worth the expense. News flash, folks buy stuff when you are chasing National Championships and you get a bump in applicants on the academic side of the equation.

Which is more probable?
#1 UK W basketball wins a National Championship
#2 UK football wins a National Championship

Look at the revenue from I think 2 years ago (still under the Brooks glow)

TOP TIER
1. Alabama: $124 M
2. Florida: $124 M
3. LSU: $107 M
4. Tennessee: $104 M - still 20 million ahead of UK in the darks ages of Vol football
5. Auburn: $104 M - granted part of this may have been MNC exposure money

Potential top
6. Georgia: $92 M
7. Arkansas: $92 M

Treading water
8. Texas A&M: $87 M - Oil money will move them up
9. Kentucky: $85 M - 40 million behind Alabama and Florida with basketball niche
10. South Carolina: $84 M - 40 million behind Alabama and Florida with football niche

Dungeon masters
11. Missouri: $64 M
12. Mississippi State: $59 M
13. Ole Miss: $49 M

It looks like is UK is picking battles in places where it thinks it can win or gain competitive advantage. The soccer upgrade may indicate hosting an event the way UK is hosting the softball championship this spring after that upgrade. If UK got a part of that 7 million from private donors it tells me that some UK alumni with money chose not to give it to football or basketball. UK is in the SEC and in case you are unaware it is the most competitive conference in more than just football. Take a look at the facilities a school like Texas A&M is bringing to the SEC in sports other than football and tell me UK does not have to catch up across the boards.

Nice of you to delete the rest of your post than actually debate what is the realistic options for UK. If UK offends you so much then turn in your BBN card and become a Card fan. I doubt you will be missed and you can be excited about being a bandwagon fan for a school with corporate money and idiot fans. Nice language for someone who does not live in the Bluegrass and does not act like a true Belle in the manner of Sallie Ward.

I live in Kentucky. But thanks for the concern over my fandom. I also doubt I'm going to stop being a UK fan because someone who works for our athletic department doesn't like being called out for doing such a shitty job.

I'd rather see that money in Baseball where hosting is far more valuable and gives us far more exposure.

The saddest thing is that it wouldn't take a SEC Championship caliber team to fill that back up. Kentucky fans just want consistent years of bowl eligibility and the occasional chance at more. Cheese Grits keeps bringing up Alabama like that's what we're expecting in football.

We just want something fun to watch and a chance at the post-season. That's really not too much to ask.

If you knew just how wrong you are. I do not, nor have I ever worked for the athletic department. Nice attempt at yet another deflect. I did have a long association with Mr Bill and many who did not have the power to alter policy. You are not calling UK out as you are just blowing off steam that Joker is not winning. When was the last time UK won 9 or more games in the regular season?

What is the probability of UK sustaining 8 wins in a season given their history since Bear Bryant left? Even the Bear finished 9th in the SEC just 2 seasons before he departed Lexington. In 1948 and 1952 the Bear only brought 5 wins for the season to the BBN faithful. You call me UK staff yet you fail to grasp I am looking at this as a fan who really wants better and looks to the real issues to accomplish this over a knee jerk reaction like a coach.

I never said I was a Joker supporter but I have directed the discussion on who would be suitable to replace him beyond some pie in the sky like Petrino or Strong.

Blanton Collier - Local boy who never won more than 7 but won at Cleveland
Charlie Bradshaw - Defeated UT twice in Knoxville but never won more than 6 at UK
John Ray - Upset Archie Manning at Ole Miss but never won more than 3 at UK
Fran Curci - 1 good season and 1 great season in 9 tempered by NCAA sanctions
Jerry Claiborne - the older rich brooks who had 1 god season in 8 years
Bill Curry - 6 wins was his best and he won at Alabama and Georgia Tech
Hal Mumme - 7 wins was his best and he left with the NCAA in tow
Guy Morriss - 7 wins was his best at UK followed by no winning seasons at Baylor
Rich Brooks - 8 wins was the best he could muster but he got old and wanted to retire
Joker Phillips - 6 wins was his best so far

The UK job is a coaching graveyard for well beyond the Joker era but you keep focusing your wrath on today if it helps you sleep better at night. My question to you again is who would be a reasonable replacement for Joker?
