Because UAB dropped football and UK needed a replacement game on short notice, on a specific date.

USM had an open date that matched up and, thus, a lot of bargaining power.

I remember looking at some OOC schedules back when the UAB announcement was made and thinking that it would be very, very tough to get a team to fill the spot. UK didn't have much of a choice other than agreeing to a 1-1 series.

We were able to grab Bowling Green to replace UAB for this season and we had to do that very quickly given it was our opener. Y'all could've gotten a better bargain, especially given that it gives smaller teams television exposure via the SECNetwork they wouldn't otherwise get and a payday.

I think you're AD could've gotten a non-home and home if they'd pushed but may have had other reasons for scheduling this one e.g. establishing stronger ties in that general region of the Deep South or some ties no one knows about between coaches, ADs etc. Scheduling home and homes can involve a lot more than meets the eye.

All of this. Laugh, State. At least we didn't have much of a choice in the matter, unlike you.

I had friends growing up that were USM fans and they were unbearable. Always saying they would do better in the SEC than Ole Miss and State because they won 6-7 games every year and say we were scared to play them in football. And just the program's attitude in general. "Anybody, Anytime, Anywhere" annoys me to no end. They beat Nebraska back in 2003 and they think they can beat anyone they play.

I don't truly hate State truth be told. Yeah we talk shite back and forth and of course I don't pull for you guys unless it benefits Ole Miss. Don't hate y'all though. I was so glad State beat the hell out of them. And LSU fans are obnoxious but they have a right to be. USM fans are just pretentious for no damn reason and I can't stand it. I hate USM more than I do State and LSU combined

This is why the Mighty Rebels hate little ol Southern Miss:
Last 7 games of series
1977- USM-27 Ole Miss-19
1978- Ole Miss-16 USM-13
1979- USM-38 Ole Miss-8
1980- USM-28 Ole Miss-22
1982- Ole Miss-28 USM-19
1983- USM-27 Ole Miss-7
1984- USM-13 Ole Miss-10

Gotcha. Man how they suck now.

Regardless of the Rant stance, when State scheduled them it was a bone thrown to the Governor and they had just narrowly missed a BCS bid. No one could have forecasted how far they would plummet.

I agree with you that playing them is a lose lose though. Especially going there.

Actually on the field we don't. Those two retroactive wins awarded by the NCAA don't count by my book. All I know is we've won the last 3 against the Mustard Buzzards.

Those are literally the only games they've beaten us in.

You make this argument about Ole Miss by bringing up scores to our pasts games, when we have a winning record over them by double digits, and then conveniently leave out the fact that Mississippi State has a losing record against them.

That's not deflection, that's calling you out on your massive pile of bullshite.

ETA, the other State fan originally made the post. My point stands.

Insecure huh? Because I retort a highly skewed post? You want to do a more thorough breakdown of the games in question so we can lay out all the talking points so as to eliminate all deflecting options?
