Ok, let's just throw away the Kansas, Texas, Providence, and UNC game out the window You realize those teams ranked in the top 25 did not come within 10 points to UK?

If CBS spent roughly 11 Billion (yes BILLION) for the March Madness TV rights it must be relevant to somebody. That was almost double the previous deal of 6 Billion so demand is moving up not down.
1. NFL
2. CFB
3. NBA
4. MLB
5. NHL
6. European Soccer
7. CBB
That's how I guess it would shake out if you polled people on their interest in various sports.

Perhaps a little reflection is overdue for some of our SEC brethren as to why no teams from the conference can scratch the Top 25 as of the middle of December?
There's some research (that I can't locate at this second) showing football is more popular in America but by a pretty narrow margin. Plus, that measured the NFL versus the NBA. Since the NBA delivers a boring product compared to the NCAA (partly because of rule differences), the margin is probably narrower with college ball compared to pro.
FYI, the most popular sport in Alabama is not Bama or Auburn football but NASCAR

LSU Arkansas Florida and Tennessee will make some noise this year. Those are the only SEC teams with any sort of attention so I apologize if others have a chance too.
I do believe the conference as a basketball conference is on the upswing. We definitely have the potential to be a top 5 basketball conference If the league would just get their shite together.
I think UK was a given also.
Aggies also look to be fairly well. We know auburn has a few years to go and Ole Miss can potentially have a good team every now and then.

That's nice. Unfortunately the college basketball regular season is completely meaningless, so we'll just have to wait until the real season starts in March.

Maybe if you're talking NBA vs. NFL (which you are). College basketball is the least popular "major" sport in the country and has been since all the good players started leaving after one season.

Everyone with a pulse makes the tournament.

Which amounted to 3 of 14 SEC teams last year. There are over 325 eligible Division 1 teams but only 68 make it. A college football team has a much better chance at making a bowl game than the basketball team making the tournament

ACC teams don't even need a pulse they just suck their way in.

Not sure who that is but just trying to add a bit of variety to the board which is over 50% Alabama/Auburn football, sometimes about some arcane stuff. Plus, basketball season is getting into full swing so good to get some basketball commenters with something to talk about
Dude, this is a football 1st, football 2nd, football 3rd board. Have you noticed the dearth of UK fans here?
Even a lot of the UK fans here are football first fans. Basketball runs a poor third to football and baseball (unless Arky and/or LSU are doing well).
It's also primarily an SEC West site. Everybody here recognizes UK's excellence in basketball but hardly anyone wants to talk about it.
Hope this helps. And please don't become our Tigernick.

11 billion over 14 years...still impressive, but not as ridiculous as you'd think.

11 billion is impressive in one year, over 14, not so much.

No where in my post did say that UK had a bad basketball team. I've just watched both and feel like Duke is the better team this year. Okafor is my POY thus far.

Florida will be ranked by the time conference play begins.

Close to a Billion a year, if that is not impressive then drop a billion on me and I will be plenty impressed. Keep in mind that is a roughly a billion just for the post post season. Add in the conference tourneys and the regular seasons and that number is probably well over a billion per year.
