Ya, I really think many are overlooking how big of a deal only losing a few scholarships each year. When you start running into injury issues at a position, good luck.

Not just that but consider that most blue chip kids are going to stay away while you are on probation in turn lowering the quality of the roster as well. Ole Miss is going to be crippled.

And God forbid you screw up evaluating recruits and they don't pan out leading to even more attrition while you're operating under the sanctions. Kills all depth for 4-5 years after you've served your sanctions.

Someone in the NCAA (an investigator ?) had a vendetta for OleMiss, especially after they mislead and lied to (Barney Farrar) because they went on a tangent to nail them after draft night. And found enough crap while offering immunity that they didn't even feel the need to pile on with any of the Tunsil stuff.

Remember waaayyy back when we waited with baited breath, sitting on pins and needles in hopes that freaking Andre Smith would put on a crimson cap on NSD? He was the highest rated/hyped recruit Bama had pulled in years. Those were dark times.

I believe the NCAA will make an example out of OM. They have lost credibility and been emasculated in the past few years, and I believe it is quite plausible that they will penalize Mississippi heavily in attempt to save face/regain respect as a governing entity.

I actually feel sorry for the average Ole Miss fan because of what the NCAA is about to do to them. Some of the poor saps still don't see the writing on the wall and those are the guys that are probably going to suffer the most.

I think so. What the NCAA would do to penalize Alabama or Ohio State isn't the same as what they'd do to Ole Miss, South Carolina(Or Arkansas for that matter). It's that hypocrisy and inconsistency, obviously, that so many find infuriating. With that said, I think Rebel fans that don't think there is a real possibility that they get hit hard is pretty naive.

The ncaa decided Alabama should forfeit victories they won on the field, because Antonio Langham signed a napkin in the celebratory aftermath of the national title game vs Miami. About the same time frame they banned Auburn from about 3 tv games, for the coaches giving the players money.

2 points there.

1-They have hit Alabama harder than other teams doing worse crimes.

2-They've always been arbitrary. There is no rhyme or reason.

edit: Actually, the truth is about as likely that Alabama was hit so hard because Gene Stallings so unceremoniously kicked the ncaa investigator out of his office. That was stupid. It's also no less capricious a reason, and in fact, is kind of more so.

No we opened the door with the women's baseketball and track stuff along with the Nutt staff's ACT debacble. Then Freeze hits on the 13 class. Everyone assumes OM is cheating.

Tunsil's step-dad gives them 20+ hours of information. Everything they could prove was in the first NOA. (Most found by OM and given to the NCAA). Most aggregioius was Tusil's step-dad asking for money.

So NCAA didn't find the "smoking gun".

Draft night happened,
NCAA opens up investigation because of Tunsil.

Nothing in 2nd NOA is about Tunsil. They couldn't find anything.

So to save face the NCAA starts throwing around immunity like condoms at a an STD convention and have a very questionable source give up 90% that is in the 2nd NOA.

Basically it was a witch hunt but the witch hunt would have never started if we hadn't gotten them to campus for other reasons. So us being idiots is partially to blame.

And you believe this to be the absolute only instance of MSU having rules violated since Mullen came to MSU, correct?

Of course we all cheat to some degree, however it is kind of like the cops pretty much ignore teenagers selling weed to each other, OM took out a full page ad stating times and going rates they would be slinging crack from on each corner.

This is rubbing the authorities nose in shite, any Reb fan unable to see this distinction is delusional.

Reading some of the post from Reb fans on this topic is a bit more than humerus and displays clearly just how insular a group of fans they really are.

This is going to end badly for OM, it gives the NCAA a chance to punish a SEC school (which the rest of the countries schools are clamoring for), without impacting a program that really matters (not that State does either before you start that nonsense).

Hammering OM is a win win for the NCAA and a good example of why one should sometimes remember their place when making the decision to step out of bounds.

Dude, Freeze had a booster with him on a recruiting visit. Yeah, he runs a clean program.

It's probably a money thing. The longer they retain him the less they'll owe him when they fire him

If the charges stick, then they get to fire him for cause and they don't owe him a dime.

My guess is that both he and Bjork are history. I would actually like to see him survive this. But I don't really see a plausible path.

Well now the guy the NCAA labeled as a "booster" was the the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Director. He was performing good deeds to help the poor and less fortunate.

Now, why those players own high school coaches couldn't get them in contact with various college programs and act as the go-between in communications via on campus visits, in-home visits, etc....I don't know.

I'm not sure why it took an FCA Director to actively get those kids noticed by college coaches. I'm not sure why it took an FCA Director to provide transportation, lodging, meals, etc for those kids and their families.

One would think that the HS coach would bend over backwards to get HIS own players noticed and get them offers from an SEC program. Would speak volumes for a HS coach to get his players and get the school exposure if they are producing SEC level prospects, right?

So if he had no tie to OM then it would be ok. But since he had baseball tickets 10 years ago it illegal and dirty AF? That is why we are fighting this. Use some common sense.

There is no point even talking to you because you just have excuses for everything. You could have just posted this instead of "Link?"

Whoa, no reason to stop acting like a lady.

You asked for a link and I provided a link.

The biggest negative in this whole investigation, imo, has been the exodus of quality OM fans from message boards.
