I'm saying Sumlin was forced to start a bunch of true and redshirt freshmen and first year JUCOs and won more games in such a tight spot than any coach in history.

So Sumlin is only good for about half of what the game of football consists of. Got it. Tell him congrats on the super-obscure, completely meaningless award.

Does Sumlin have any more gifts left behind by Sherman?

This is as absurd a notion as Bama fans thinking their boy will be "better than Winston" next year.
You caught lighting with JM. That doesn't happen every recruiting cycle. You will get decent production out of whomever you have at QB1, simply by nature of a good offensive system.

But make no mistake, you need defense to be consistently competitive in this league.

STFU! I love threads where Aggies claim the rest of the SEC will need God's help to compete with them. It's beautiful material to bump when they get throttled later in the season.

Where did all this LSU/Aggie hate come from? Easy retort: Aggie will always be 2nd tier and will never compete for the West so they feel disenfranchised. Logical and more realistic retort: Still semi-new to the conference so have to establish themselves as non-pushovers.

Remember when Sam Montgomery gave props to Johnny F*ckstick and ATM as a program? Everyone here was BFF and now it's just pure hatred Pretty jacked up.

So wait, Sumlin had one of the best college QB talents in modern times, and he only won 9 games last year?

hmmmm

Has he won anything of note in the SEC yet? What about the year before?

No?

hmmmm

LSU/A&M hate predates even the Big 12.

I'm a Houstonian who went to LSU and am back in Houston and I've never witnessed that hate So I've been around you guys since forever and never took notice. Frankly, this is more than likely exclusive to this board b/c even at the games, Aggienation has been quite accommodating to us LSU guys.

Historically speaking, has Sumlin ever had a good defense? Even when he went 13-1 at Houston, his defense gave up a lot of points.

Oklahoma State went 12-1 in 2011 with one of the worst defenses in college football history...EXCEPT for turnover margin.

Total defense, rushing defense, scoring defense, pass defense, and pass efficiency defense are nice stats. However, the TRUE indicator of a good defense are the following stats:

-Yards per play
-3rd down completion %
-Red zone TD %
-Turnover Margin (specifically, turnovers forced)

I'll never give an offensive minded coach a prediction of winning a national title.

I witnessed it here under Petrino and we had damn good talent on the defensive side of the ball. Our 2010 team was probably our most complete under Petrino, but it still lacked the shutdown defense.

2011 was even worse when faced with a physical, control the clock offense.

That's strange given that it just happened four months ago. I've also got Urban Meyer on line 2 and he'd like a word.

Oh, and we arent Arkansas. We can actually recruit defensive talent.

Florida State? They had a good defense and were nothing remotely similar to your offensive philosophy. FSU was 3rd nationally in total defense a year ago.

The 2010 and 2011 Arkansas teams had a lot of talent on defense. Petrino isn't a defensive coach and left them out to dry.

Why do you think Oregon is national title-less? aTm will never win a title under Sumlin.
