Injury? lame excuse and I guess it only rained when A&M had the ball.

I would also add that our WRs struggled to get separation and thus enticed Manziel to flee the pocket.
That and we abandoned running the ball.

Again, LSU fans, don't freak out, but was LSU's line even good this past year? I don't remember hearing much from them at all outside of the Ferguson kid. Like I said, that isn't a flame considering LSU just throws them in the NFL (Spears, Tyson Jackson, Dorsey, Kyle Williams, Lavalais, Mingo, etc). I just assumed that LSU's line was depleted after the 2012 season.

A&M also abandoned the run game both times putting it all on Johnny. I think we had 6 handoffs in 201

Very true. RR shut Evans arse down

WR's were dropping balls and not getting much separation, Evans was being a bitch the whole game raising his hand in displeasure every time an errant pass was thrown his way from johnny.
the TD to derel walker was more of a shitty play from the cb White, where he, for whatever reason, got spun around and lost track of walker. i think.

However, while programs like Alabama have seen their invincible defensive reputations take hits (the Tide surrendered 1,046 yards in just two games against Texas A&M), one program has maintained a defense that's sheltered the league from being totally taken over by the spread: the LSU Tigers.
Included in the Bayou Bengals' resume of smashing spread teams are handling Chip Kelly's Oregon, air raid West Virginia, and Bobby Petrino's "pro-spread" Arkansas. They forced the two worst games of Manziel's college career. They've yielded an overall conspicuous lack of games in which spread offenses lit up the scoreboard.
Of course, few will ever agree on a definitive list of teams that run spread offenses.
But if we define the power-conference spread offenses LSU has faced over the last six years as Gus Malzahn's Auburn, Mississippi State, Hugh Freeze's Ole Miss, Oregon, Dana Holgorsen's West Virginia, Petrino's Arkansas, Texas A&M, TCU, and Clemson, then we can figure the Tigers have given up an average of about 20 points against some of the country's highest-octane offenses. While the Rebels had the Tigers' number last year and some have put up meaningless yardage in LSU wins, the track record is secure.
So what are the secrets to defensive coordinator John Chavis' approach? How is it that LSU consistently outperforms other big-time programs with defensive reputations in stopping these offenses? The answer has multiple layers.......

In 2012, we had Montgomery, Mingo and a rotation on the interior that-coupled with scheme to do less straight upfield rushing-really confused Johnny I think. Couples with All-American Eric Reid and an NFL draft pick Tharold Simon in our Secondary, when we covered his first read, his instinct was to bolt in '12. We took that away, forced him out if his comfort zone, and you saw the result.
In 2013, we had an across the board decrease in talent on the DL in terms of depth. Even still our front line types included two NFL DT's and two ends who will be drafted next year as well. Coupled with bad weather, this hurt Manziel.
But ultimately, the X-Factor was Rashard Robinson being able to play Mike Evans and essentially nullify his impact on the game. Evans was Manziel's security blanket in 2013. But against LSU?
Four catches, 51 yards. One of which went for 38 yards in the 2nd half long after the game was in doubt. Robinson did work against Evans all day. As an 18 year old who didn't practice and wasn't even cleared to join the team until the week of the season opener for LSU? Ridiculous.
I also heard from someone who met George Whitfield at Walk-On's after the game who said that JFF had a hand injury. I didn't necessarily see it, but whatever.
Chavis and talent beat JFF.

Their run blocking schemes are not their bread and butter. They make their bones in pass pro. When they got down early they didn't have the time, offense, or scheme and technique to take the air out of it and come back.

Hey dont forget defense. We certainly didn't have that either last year.

Again I call BS. If he had the slightest of a papercut it would have been media hysteria.

Turns out Johnny Manziel isn't all that good when you force him to stay in the pocket and beat a quality cornerback with his arm.
Also, Mike Evans is a total bitch.

In my opinion South Carolina has a very fast athletic defensive line similar to a LSU type line.
It will be interesting to see how they handle Texas A&M's spread offense.

I like how the OP asks for reasons and when reasons are given it is "excuses".

Watching him after that first play vs RR21 when he went Kardashian, and then against Duke when he did the same thing? Would have entered that guy into some counseling/decision-making/anger management/breathing technique classes or some shite if I were the NFL team that drafted him.
Immense talent, but you're talking about a draft eligible superstar playing for draft position who goes Kim K after a clean play on the road against an 18 year old CB on the first possession. Came off as severely mentally weak.
