Sources tell me that LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis has a new three year $4m deal to stay at LSU. No word if signed yet. @1045espn
LSU reached deep into their pockets and offered Chavis a $33,333 raise per year?

Finebaum: I think John Chavis might leave LSU to go to Texas A&M. He may decide he just needs to make a change.

I thought he was already making $1.3 mil, no?

No doubt now. Chavis stays at LSU.

another waste of time imho
More than likely Chavis is going to be the guy. Foster is the backup plan. It will just take time before it comes out. Expect it to leak right before kickoff and LSU to lose to Notre Dame.
edit: for spelling

You might actually be retarded.

He had an escalating salary figure in his most recent deal. This year was the highest annual salary he's had while at LSU-or anywhere else for that matter.
This new deal will pay him a little north of that total in all three years of the deal on average, which in actuality is a fairly significant raise.
Oh and just an FYI, only Bud Foster (who its been said is essentially being paid HCIW money) and Kirby Smart at Bama made more as coordinators last year. This will bring him right up into the discussion for the highest paid coordinator in CFB from here on out, pending either one of them getting new deals after Chief's.

We're just forcing LSU to spend some money while we wait for Foster.
If he keeps smothering Texas A&M with his defensive game plans we're more than happy to give him a little extra cheese.

Was this an actual Finebaum quote or did he just retweet it?

Foster makes like 500K a year, if that HCIW money then A&M is double it and get off cheaply. He is however getting a 800K bonus this year for staying on the job for 4 years.

No offense to A&M, but there really was never any doubt he was staying (save Miles leaving for Michigan). There are exactly zero reports of Chavis being unhappy in BR and he has a track record of loyalty. Why would he leave the stability and commitment to defense in BR for A&M?
And if any A&M fan says money, do you really think LSU would be outbid for Chavis?

No, but it is fun being the Ronald Reagan to your USSR.

Soviets were cleaner than people from Louisiana
