LSU and Alabama were both crappy when Saban came on board.

Who cares whether or not Harbaugh or Saban is the better coach? I'm looking forward to Saban jailsexing the rest of college football and making every opposing fan in this thread miserable for the next decade.

LSU's 10 years before Saban:57-65-1
Alabama's 10 years before Saban: 51-55 (67-55) if you count the vacated wins of 2005 & 2006)

So, depends on your opinion of what is "crappy"

Harbaugh. He made winners out of mediocre teams from virtually the same zip code.

I think in order to answer that question correctly you would need to know what team had the most talent when the two coaches started their coaching...

Lotta Saban hate in this thread.

Saban and it isnt even close. 3 BCS title trumps anything Harbaugh has done in his career.

Happy for Harbaugh, excellent job in SF, but right now he hasnt won anything of merit as of now

Saban has won more. If I had to pick one, it's Harbaugh.

Harbaugh is a much better coach. He has won consistently at every level he's ever coached. In his rookie season as an NFL head coach, Harbaugh has his team in the NFC Championship game.

Saban was a complete failure as an NFL coach. He was not meant to coach at the highest level.

He is a great college football coach, and his authoritarian style works great with kids transitioning from high school.

The NFL is a different level though, and Saban has not proven himself capable of reaching those heights.

People say he "can't" coach at the highest level only because he took a College Job. The 04 Phins were 4-12. The 05 Dolphins under Saban were 9-7.

You just pull some random numbers not relevant to the discussion to throw in here?

And the 2006 dolphins were 6-10.

And his personnel moves were abyssmal.

But he is a dominant college coach, just not NFL caliber.

Im sure part of it is the prick factor.

At Bama, Saban clearly gets to be the biggest prick. At Miami, he wasnt a 1/100 of the prick that Jason Taylor was. Im sure that was a hard pill to swallow.

And when he left, the dolphins brought in the "best offensive mind in football" to guide them to a 1-15 record.

Saban wasn't a good NFL coach by any means, but the team was better with him than it was before or after.

Harbaugh is a good coach. But let's wait until he wins a Super Bowl before we call him a great coach.
