I'm sure Gator fans have a complaint here-n-there but from an outsider's perspective his run at UF was very impressive.

It would bring me great joy to replace Joe A. with Jeremy F. - if somehow we could.

Pretty darn OK. Florida's population boom helped a bit.

Can you tell me what would give you any hope that this would happen?

Jeremy started in the ticket office as an intern in the 70s. I think he's not gonna entertain any offers from LSU or any other school. He'll probably take a position focusing on fund raising for the AD and school overall.

No way. Anyone remember the "Jeremy Foley Rule" that he created for the SEC? He was a coward, simple and plain.

He also started the tradition of firing coaches at mid-season, which is something that only pro teams used to do. I think this has been very bad for college athletics.

Bill Arnsparger was actually the one who built UF's program, borrowing Bob Brodhead's model from his LSU days. You should have kept Brodhead if you wanted a good AD. Foley mostly followed Arnsparger's model.

Didn't realize he's been there since 1950.

We have a few that do but not many. Foley loved UF, won trophies in almost every sport and mostly made great choices along the way.

The only complaint I could think of is his stubbornness regarding facilities.

He was in the right place at the right time. His last 6 years handling football was a disaster. His financial decisions have been horrible as well. SOS built UF football. NR sports benefited the most along with BBall. Glad to seem him go.

I'm sure harboring a murderer and other thugs on your football team to win games won't be a black eye on his body of work at all.

Then why is FSU's athletic program WAY behind UF's?

He's the Bobby Bowden of ADs. He directly caused this mess. He should have left when Meyer retired again. Him allowing Meyer to hold the program hostage, paying him $1M bonus not to coach and the entire WM disaster and hiring Mac is his legacy. His arrogance has cost this program almost a decade and now we're stuck with an average staff that can coach but recruits like they've at Missouri or Arkansas. He chose to extend WM after 2012, He chose to not fire WM after 2013, He chose to hire an unknown coach to recruits who can't balance a staff between recruiters or coaches while paying $7M to CSU. Nord, Shannon, Callahan, and Summers are trash recruiters and we sit at #12 in the SEC right now with no buzz around the program. He decided not to improve facilities until he was forced to. You say we won the East. We won it because we were he least shitty team and we got lucky. Kirby, Les, Saban and Jimbo are dragging their nuts all over Mac. We've signed 35 3*s the last 3 years. Every metric and result says this will be a disaster and now that the East is getting better and UF is just idling while our rivals kick our arse IN THE STATE. Excuse me if I've got beef with Jeremy Foley, because dammit he's earned it.

Because they focus on football. How's that worked out for then. There's football, basketball and the Director's Cup participation trophy sports.

You're discounting his hiring of Billy Donovan and O'Sullivan, and I'm leaving out a boatload of other great coaches. Football has been hit or miss, but we have two BCS titles and were in it in several of other years. Let's see what coach Mac does.

I, for one, call his tenure a resounding success.

ETA: And Foley ran a clean program. I'm looking at you Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, Tennessee!

The SEC overall All-Sports Trophy has gone to the Gators in 24 of Foley's 25 years as the AD. Just STFU

I agree. It's tough between him and a dead Mal Moore.
