Billy was a success until recently as the last 2 seasons go. Yes sully is a success. Given our location, conference and talent UF should never be settling. The problem baseball and basketball don't pay the bills or improve NR sports. Lets ask the rant how many schools will trade all the NR trophies for an SEC/NC trophy and vice versa? He ran a clean program? I guarantee UF plays the game just like the rest of the SEC just don't go to those extremes. Honestly wgaf about the ncaas hypocrisy, frick em.

Because they focus on football. How's that worked out for then.

Are you suggesting FSU has built a better football program

Foley made UF a powerhouse in nearly every sport including football. Best AD ever IMO

I think so. No one can match his championship resume. He's hired a lot of great coaches.

But I also think he's a product of right place, right time. A monkey could be the AD at Florida and be successful.

But you can't, so why not try and be successful in every sport we compete in?

No one is perfect, but he is easily one of the all time greats. At the very least he deserves some appreciation for what he helped accomplish during his 40 years at UF.

TammyJoe, you may want to edit this for obvious reasons.

I dunno. Is there an AD historian aboard? Most of us can't name more than three current ADs without looking them up.

That said, Foley is/was a damn good AD for Florida.

SOS built UF football and Fooley almost has undid that success in the 15 years. Yes that includes the Meyer years. Hold the fricking presses UF gymnastics and lacrosse are balling so that absolves the problems he's created

He's a solid AD, but best ever? Florida is a hilariously easy position. People rag on Alleva for Trent Johnson, jones, and Caldwell, but foley hired zook, muschamp, and probably five different failures for wbb. On paper he's the best ever, but Florida will thrive without him anyway

Bill Arnsparger was the dumbest fricking idiot on the face of the earth. Everyone regretted that hire right after it happened.

Him allowing Meyer to hold the program hostage, paying him $1M bonus not to coach and the entire WM disaster and hiring Mac is his legacy. His arrogance has cost this program almost a decade and now we're stuck with an average staff that can coach but recruits like they've at Missouri or Arkansas. He chose to extend WM after 2012, He chose to not fire WM after 2013, He chose to hire an unknown coach to recruits who can't balance a staff between recruiters or coaches while paying $7M to CSU

I think it's fair to say he was the best but on the decline. This era needs a different kind of leadership than he provided.

One of. Any time I hear a complaint from Florida fans about him I want to slap him. He made Uf the premier athletic school in terms of titles per sport(screw Stanford they have 14 more sports). Dude is a stud.

I have a few things I disagree with Foley over, but he is the best AD Florida has ever had and it's not close. The next guy has big shoes to fill.
