Did you watch the games? I'm pretty sure like 4 of those picks came off tips.

Yes, I watched the games. The question is who would you rather have. I have acknowledged the skills of Jones, and said that I would still take a versatile player like Te'o. The fact that you idiots think he's "pedestrian" is hilarious to me. Open your eyes.

I'll take Jones if I can play him as a 43 OLB, Te'o if I can't.

JJ, and not due to my heisman bias. That dude is a mean fricker.

Oh, well in that case I guess UGA DL Marquis Elmore is the greatest of all time purely based on his 5 star ranking out of HS. Don't pay attention to his stats, though.

Jarvis 10 out of 10 times.

His stats this year are impressive.
No they're not.

He has had a great career.
I guess that's one theory.

He is a much more well rounded player than Jones, and for all of the "Jones is a playmaker" posts in here, look at Te'o's takeaway numbers this year? He is also a playmaker.
So Jones 9 forced fumbles, including single handedly taking over the games against Missouri and Florida (including a game saving strip at the goal line of Jordan Reed) and his 1INT to seal the game against Mizzou doesn't stack up to Teo's 7 INt's, half of which came off of tipped passes

If you looked at player A and player B, what in the world would convince me to take Te'O over Kevin Minter, Alec Ogletree, or one of many other MLBs/ILBs playing this year?
Not a damn thing.
He has a sad story worth noting but that doesn't make him any better than anyone else.

lol, whatever you need to tell yourself. I've said Jones is a great player, despite being a liability against the run and a nonfactor in coverage. But Te'o is also a great player, even if his Heisman campaign is a joke. I guess you'd have me believe that the NFL franchise that is going to take him in the top 10 in the draft this year is just doing their part to overhype Notre Dame. Again, lol.

Jarvis and it isn't close.

They play different positions, so it is kind of hard to compare. Jones is an Outside linebacker/rush end. Te'o is a MLB. Both are excellent at the position they play.
But if I can only pick one, I take Jones. A speed rusher with tackling skills that can play outside coverage is rare.

I understand thinking Te'o is overhyped, and I understand why someone would want Jones over Te'o. But Te'o is still a beast, and being a media darling doesn't change that. He was a 5 star long before he ever committed to Notre Dame. He's had an extremely impressive career, and is an extremely well rounded player who can pretty much do it all at the college level. Jones is an elite pass rusher, a supreme athlete, and a great nfl prospect, but he's a liability in coverage and against the run at this point in his career. I'd take Jarvis on Bama in a heartbeat, don't get me wrong, but if asked to choose who I'd take between these two at the college level, gotta go with Te'o, and that has nothing to do with all of the media hype.
Post of the thread. Good stuff.
People overrate Jones on this site just to try to put him above Te'o because of Te'o's hype. Jones is an outstanding pass rusher, a premium to be sure. I'll take Te'o in every other aspect of the game, including coverage, tackling, play recognition, block shedding, leadership, etc.

He may go top 10 but jj will go before him. A mean motherfricker who can get after the qb is twice as valuable to a team than a guy who can gang tackle and scream really loud

Jarvis Jones or Manti Te'o - who would you rather have?
Jarvis Jones - 11 games
TFL - 22.5
Tackles - 77
FF - 7
Sacks - 12.5
Int - 1
Manti Te'o - 12 games
TFL - 5.5
Tackles - 103
FF - 0
Sacks - 1.5
Int - 7
Depends on what your asking. If we're putting them on our team as is then I would take Te'o as we already have a pass rush specialist and a ball hawking leader at MLB would be more valuable. If your asking if we're building a defense around one player, then, again, I would take Te'o as a solid MLB is the defensive QB who leads the team. If, however, your just asking heads up which one has better stats and going simply on that... then Jones.

frick it those are pedestrian over a career.

Manti. Jarvis goes to sleep and gets abused in the run game.

+1. Jones was abused in the run game and played soft in my opinion. Eye opening.
