I said before the game, we didn't really have to face a team with killer WR's and a great qb since Jackson went down. He was just a playmaker back there with tons of experience that we definitely missed last night.

When I tried to tell some Bama fans on here last week that the problems with the offense were centered around the freshman QB hitting the wall, and not Kiffin, they got pretty upset.

It was both. Hurts clearly lost confidence, but Kiffins UF and UW came plans were incomprehensible scribble.

Same thing with their secondary

The secondary is fine when they don't have to defend great qbs like Watson for 99 plays per game. Never mind pick plays and pushing off.

Defense gave up 35

Because our one dimensional offense couldn't convert a 3rd down so the defense was on the field over 90 plays against a great offensive team with a great quarterback. You are just dumb.

So what is the trend for true freshman starting QBs at Alabama?

So is Hurts transferring or challenging the NFL 3 years out of high school rule?

The passing game is probably the most underdeveloped trait for any True Freshman DT QB. Throw in playing championship defense for the last 3 games of the season, not even counting LSU and Auburn near the tail end, and it's going to magnify that. He's young and has time.

Really have to disagree with this. The Alabama passing offense in its present form is extremely simplistic and is not rocket science. No quick slants across the middle and no long post patterns. Basiclly 8-12 yard sideline passes, screens, etc. High school stuff. Hurts can't make these throws on a consistent basis and he seeming had no improvement through the season. I think he's out next year.

I understand what you are saying but when you say something like

quote:

Yep he really sucked it up this year, only went 14-1 as a true freshman.

You are insinuating that the reason Alabama went 14-1 is because of Jalen Hurts. You could have inserted a lot of quarterbacks into that situation and alabama would have still gone 14-1.

Yea he is young but even young quarterbacks that need more time to develop display their rare arm talent and accuracy frequently, they just need more polish. He has never displayed that, he is a lob thrower not a passer. He is limited in that area, i firmly believe he is a clutch player, and good calm game manager, and can scramble well but his ceiling is pretty low as far as being a passer. Just sayin'

You tell me.

Is that the trend for true freshmen starting QBs at Alabama?

Has Alabama ever had a player start at QB as a true freshman and go on to start at QB for 2 or 3 more years?

This is just strange. I expect our starter to be back next year, yes.

Jalen should improve passing wise with an entire off season to work on it

I think I'm pretty happy with our 18 year old 14-1 starter

hey that's what makes me feel good about next year

for the first time heading into an offseason since McCarron we KNOW who the guy is going to be and what his strengths and weaknesses are

it can be worked on - it feels a lot better than bringing in someone new and just hoping they can get the job done

I'll say, you seem to have difficulties answering a pretty damned simple question.

A lot of true freshman qb's? maybe so, maybe not.

I didn't insinuate anything and they didn't go 14-1 because of any one player. I was impressed with what Hurts did this season because he is a true freshman, that is all.

Defense was one dimensional too could only stop the run and not the pass

He was a freshman. He has Sark coaching him. I think UA will be fine.
I think Kiffin hurt him in that he spoon fed what to do all year in game, ( where to throw, etc.). UA will be just fine. Close game and Hurts scored when needed. It sucks, but it is what it is. This game made me feel exactly like 2013 with AU vs. FSU. Sometimes the ACC beats the best in the SEC.

How many plays did Clemson run against Bama? Bama's offense couldn't keep their defense off the field and they got gassed.
