I assume if HBC said Clowney had the best work ethic of any player he has coached, including Lattimore, who HBC loves more than anyone, you would have believed him. Thats my point, if Spurrier would have said, he has great work ethic, no one would have belived him. All you arm chair GM's already have your mind made up about Clowney. He will most likely make most of you look foolish, he is going to be a beast in the NFL.

It's not the physics aspect that I care about. It's that it's a competition, and you either lift 225 pounds a certain number of times or you don't.

Just like the 40. You either run the fastest time or you don't.

If the NFL (and everyone else watching and discussing it) really cared about arm length when it comes to bench press numbers, there'd be some kind of adjusted measurement to tell who really is the strongest when combining their total lifts with their arm length.

It's not a competition... it's an evaluation. You think that kid who ran the fastest 40 is automatically the best rb, if not player, just because he ran that fast? If it were a competition there would only be five draft picks for the guy who ran the fastest, the guy who lifted 225 pounds the most times, the guy who jumped the highest/farthest, the smartest guy, most bendy guy... and woe on the other 31 teams if that all happens to be one kid. The draft would be over in ten minutes (after four hours of pre draft analysis, of course).

Bench Press has a very small translation into football. Power Clean and Squat are much more telling about a player.
