Still not a fan.

We should have gotten rid of 2 teams instead of adding 2.

TA&M was a great addition to the conference. They have the second best overall program in the conference.

Missouri was a mistake IMO. The SEC could have shopped around for a better fit.

It's been a good move money wise. Missouri has been competitive in the east for the most part. Aggy has been competitive in the west in non football sports.

I can tell you from our perspective that it was the best thing that happened at A&M since we let in women.

The only regret is that we didn't leave with Arkansas in '92 or that we didn't tell the politicians in Texas to frick themselves in '95 when they strongarmed us into the XII. We should have always been in the SEC and it was like a homecoming for us when we joined. We are culturally more alike all of the SEC schools than any of the northern schools in the XII, or even Texas. And geographically it is about the same as the XII for us (including CU and NU).

I guess we should have just stayed in the SIAA a century ago and then we would have been a charter member of the SEC.

The SEC is home for us. We should have always been here.

Television market sizes are going to be less and less important as we move more and more to "a la carte" television. It will be about eyeballs then, rather than markets. It's already happening

I think Mizzou would have had an easier time if that campus SJW crap hadn't happened. Bad timing for them. Hell, they're still being lambasted in their own state.

It'll die down eventually because it changed MU's administration. They may be one of the most conservative campuses in the country now. That's what usually happens.

They're here to stay and will find their place. The uptick in basketball is a great sign of things to come.

Of course, A&M has always been SEC. They just came home.

And the Big 10 just has more eyeballs when comes to
Alumni around the country. The schools are just mcuh beigger than the rest of the schools in other confrences with Alumni scattered all over the states. Another reason for their huge contract.

Missouri has been pointless.

A&M adds nothing except for Texas TV audience.

The SEC is no stronger with them and seems more diluted now.

Mizzou did better than expected. Long term probably a good choice considering teams that were interested.

I'm not aware of any better choices that were interested. It seemed it was pretty much down to Missouri or West Virginia. You could maybe argue in hindsight that WVU would have been a better choice, but at the time I don't think very many people did.

Who else was interested that would have been better?

I think it was overall bad for college football. Texas A&M should be playing it's true rival Texas every year on Thanksgiving, and Arkansas should be with them too. Mizzou belongs with Nebraska, Kansas, and K-St. West Virginia should play Pitt. South Carolina should play North Carolina and NC St. Miami, Florida St, and Florida should all play each other. Maryland should still play Virginia Tech and Duke.

Expanding to 14 teams screwed up scheduling in basketball and baseball as well as made east teams virtually inaccessible in football.

While both schools have come in and had at least some success in the league and contributed financially, I still don't like the expansion. 12 teams was the perfect number, and the new teams just don't fit right culturally.

I understand the pressure to expand or die. I understand the tv markets and ratings and all of that bs. As a fan, I don't care about any of that. What makes college football special is its rivalries and its fan bases. It seems like every school athletic department and tv station has lost site of that and is running roughshod to kill their golden geese in the name of progress.

Rivalries should be protected, not broken up. Corporations and ticket mongers buying up blocks of sideline seats in stadiums, pricing out lifetime fans, should be discouraged. Alcohol should be sold. Concessions prices should be reasonable. Marching bands should provide the soundtrack rather than speakers pumping out Top 40 radio hits de jure. If a rule doesn't jive with common sense, it should be changed. Commercial breaks shouldn't interfere with the flow of the game (CBS). College Football is not the NFL and the NFL should not be the model. College Football was great because it was everything the NFL wasn't: cheap, prideful, unpolished, innovative, unabashed, regional, and fun. It needs to remember that.

That finish 2013 with over half the teams in the division ranked and 2 in the top 10. WEAK!

You will get no argument from Mizzou fans about this. It has been deeply embarrassing for us. At least you pricks can get a good laugh at our expense.

Corporate big wigs could give a rat's arse about how good the football is in the SEC if 15 million people are watching. Big Ten and Pac 12 have more TV's and the product is not as good. But their contracts are better.

If TV sets mean nothing then why did the Big Ten add Rutgers and Maryland? What do they bring to the Big Ten !!! They bring NYC, Washington DC, and Baltimore. A lot of tv sets and a bigger tv contract when they get a new contract.
