It's common knowledge Alabama sold out to stop Fournette and wasn't worried about the passing game at all.

It clearly worked.

Not having a passing game to counter this is what cost Les Miles his job.

No QB and for some reason, Les put a soft o-line on the field the last couple of years.

You had 6 in the box as much as you had 8.

Yeah its not rocket science to figure out how to beat LSU. Our guys could handle Fournette in space as well.

The gumps on this board have told me and over and over that they do not stack the box against LSU. Well......

Tim Williams

quote:
"They just kept running ball, even though we had 8 men in the box."

Apparently the times Alabama had 6, 7 or 8 in the box on Fournette's carries were pretty evenly distributed. So Bama fans saying that Alabama didn't sell out to stack the box and Tim Williams saying that LSU kept running the ball even with 8 in the box are both true. Your inability to see that the two statements are not mutually exclusive and that neither party is "lying" makes you look stupid. Are you stupid?

Twenty years from now you'll still be rustled over Fournette's complete ineptitude against Alabama.

Where does he say that Bama had 8 in the box on every play? Perhaps neither Williams, nor Bama fans, nor the many people who analyzed game tape are liars.

Williams was likely expressing shock that LSU kept running the ball even during the plays where Bama had 8 in the box (i.e. "even on the plays we had 8 in the box they still ran instead of checking out of it").

quote:

"If #LSU would have thrown the ball, it would have been a different 3-4 years."

yeah. here he's right too. It would have been even uglier if LSU tried to throw the ball to one of their late round draft pick receivers with one of their limp armed QBs.

Harris had a cannon. Now that cannon may or may not have come with aim, but it was a cannon

If Tim Williams was in the game, they weren't really trying to "stack the box"
