The SEC was actually a good conference in 06 and 07, though.

don't be a homer. That '12 Kentucky team was stacked. Much more dominant than '07 Florida. Florida does have the much better coach and you'll never hear me argue otherwise. I think Donovan is underrated in CBB

There's nothing "homer" about stating a fact.

The 07 Gator team would have beaten the 12 KY team.

And I think this year's defense is better than the 07 team, but offensively, the 07 team was much better. It would be a dog fight.

One of your fans was saying Prather=Brewer.

Did I say that?

MKG was a better driver in the halfcourt. Both were awesome finishers in transition and elite defenders. Brewer was a much, much better shooter.

Does UK being "meh" automatically make the conference mediocre? The world doesn't revolve around UK.

The 96 and 12 Kentucky teams failed to win the SEC tournament.

The '96 team lost to an eventual Final Four team in the SEC Tournament.

That's the best team to ever take a college court. The ones that returned went to the '97 championship (lost in OT to Mike Bibby's Arizona team in the NC) and won the '98 championship. You'll likely never see a team like that again. And you didn't see one that good at Florida.

ETA: Let's not even get into just how bad Kentucky beat teams in '96 either. They scored over 125 points on more than one occasion as well. I have no problem saying '12 and '07 would be a great matchup but neither could hold the jockstrap of '96.

Okay. A loss is still a loss.

I can clearly see logic is going to be exercised here.

07 UF won all the available hardware that they could. 96 and 12 UK didn't.

Wilbekin is the only player that would start on that team... Which is saying a lot, because Taurean Green was awesome.

96 team was ranked the 2cd best team EVER….
LINK
So, please…don't state the 07 Gators are the best in SEC history…they don't even sniff the top 10 in rankings.

The best team was the repeat team that won it. The most fun team was the team that lost to Michigan St in finals. Miller's shot in first round was amazing.

The Kentucky team that told Rhoderick Rhodes to walk was better overall than the repeat UF team.

The best SEC team ever...I am not sure that Florida team was as good as the 94 or 95 Arkansas teams.

That '12 Kentucky team was amazing. Florida was seriously awesome that year with Brad Beal, Boynton, Walker, Young, Tyus, etc. Kentucky was so good that they essentially single-handedly made us a 7-seed.

I don't really know who was better between them and the '07 gators, but that Kentucky team was seriously dominant.

The Alabama team that had Caffey, Horry, and Spreewell is better than this years UF team. Or they are more athletic. They could play fast and slow and beat teams either way.

So NC State was better than Coog High?

Villanova was better than Georgetown?

Duke was better than UNLV?

UNI was better than KU?

Hardware does lie in a one and done tournament.

The 06/07 teams totally dominated the ncaa tourney, which is unheard of, unless you go back to the Duke back to back run. The thing about that Gator run was that Georgetown was the closest win (I think a 4 point victory but really wasn't close). After that game, you won't find another game in both of those tourneys that were close. The Gators beat teams from start to finish. What other teams did that?

This year's team is good but the talent is much more watered down. Noah and Horford are one of the best in the NBA, Brewer is holding his own. Speights can still put up big numbers like he did last week. Walter Hodge is an all star overseas today.

That team could beat you inside or out. They totally dominated the paint against any and everybody. Taurean G was a one man press breaker and they were excellent at free throws. There was really no weakness in that team. I'd put that team against any college team in the last 40 years.
