There's several

Pitt/WVU
Pitt/Penn State
Penn State/ND
Texas/ATM
OU/Nebraska
MD/Duke (bball)

Also:
Mizzou/kansas
Nebraska/Colorado
Michigan/ND

this may have been a rivalries in the 50s but it wasnt in modern college football. If either side truly cared about this game, it would still be played

And I still hold that rivalries aren't that important. If you were to ask me if I'd rather be in the SEC or stuck in the big 12 playing the schools we've played forever, I'd choose the SEC every time

I'll give you that the old Nebraska/OU Big 8 games were great.

Much as most board fans don't want it to happen, the A&M/Texas game will probably resume in 7 years or so.

I still think "realignment as an enemy of great rivalries" is overrated. The handful you listed would be easy to get back on -- and as far as ND is concerned, I think they are about to dump Stanford the next time Stanford has a lull.

I would be surprised if we play a long term series with any one from the big 12 for a while. I'm personally against us ever doing so but I can see how that causes troubles in setting up schedules

yep. Mainly because rivalries themselves are overrated

Holy shite the Bama fan is right. It's time to stop trying to educate Texas fans about the reason we left. The only reason y'all will accept is that we were jealous about the money. All the facts about the Tier 3 networks game agreement, ESPN under the table deals with Fox, and the backroom Pac 16 deal doesn't even register to y'all because that would require some understanding of respecting your fellow programs. But y'all get being jealous and petty over money.

So you win, we left because of the money and exposure. We saw a way to make more TV money and get more TV exposure than Texas within 5 years so we took it.

Have fun playing a Thanksgiving game not one gives a shite about, and have overall lower ratings and attendance than Aggy.

Texas-Arkansas? Dead.

OU-Nebraska? Dead

Aggy-Texas? Dead.

Any WVU rivalry? Dead

Realignment only kills rivalries when the Big 12 is involved. That conference is a rivalry killer.

UT-Austin Longhorns may lack the passionate fanbase to support a massive online/social media presence like we have, but I guarantee you the "board fans" are in the majority opinion of all Aggies. You'll get the same answer on TexAgs and tAggyArk as you'll get here: Thanks, but we're not interested in playing you right now. We're looking to play teams that will increase our national visibility (no offense).

True that. And few of their eWarriors have all the facts.

I have debated all this crap on Shaggy before, this thread is nothing new. I know at the end of the day there is only one justification for everything- from the LHN, to the ending of the rivalry game, to almost anything Texas does:

"Big dicks swing, Aggy"

We make sense geographically in 3 different conferences. We are a better fit for the SEC than the B1G though.

Eh...in order of geographical sense...B12, B1G, SEC....but the fit thing is definitely debatable. We are neither southern, nor northern. We are wholly midwestern, and I'd say that fits more with more B1G schools than it does with SEC schools.

Feeling is mutual about not wanting the game. I think thin-skinned attention whore Aggies more interested in politics and the more recent graduates from both schools who don't care about the past push the game through.

I don't see any evidence that there are 5 power conferences.
Based on all the criteria (network, talent level, tv ratings, champ game, etc) - Looks like there are 4 power conferences.

The biggest attention whore of them all is Steve Patterson, which is a big problem for them.

I guess maybe that depends on where in the state you are from.
Seems the north and east side tend to think of themselves more B1G'ish.

Well they do have four less teams than the SEC. So you should probably figure it out that ratio before you slam the door on the conference. Little late in the day to do the math if the thread is alive tomorrow I will oblige.

I am going to assume you are talking about the number of draft picks?
If that is the case.

SEC 54 players drafted 3.85
Big 12 25 players drafted 2.5

Last years draft
SEC 49 players drafted 3.5
Big 12 17 players drafted 1.7

2013 Draft
SEC 63 players drafted 4.5
Big 12 22 players drafted 2.2
