Or, more to what I'm trying to get at...

Is head to head more important than overall results/eye test if the two teams have close to the same record?

No.

Nobody thinks 2008 Ole Miss was a better team than 2008 Florida for example, but they still won that day.

Late season 2008 Ole Miss >>> Early season 2008 Ole Miss.

Yeah sports isn't about being "better" it's about winning.

Well its about both in CFB. There is no playoffs. Tbis 4 game BS they have hasn't changed the sport at all. It is always going to be about hype and eye tests as well as winning

Teams fall apart after playing Alabama. Playing Alabama is physically daunting and teams usually don't play well after they play Bama.

Nobody has played anyone according to everyone.

Bama has played 5 teams with rosters and resources to be competitive and are 4-1 in those games. This Bama team is still improving and will be the first repeat SEC champ in almost 2 decades.

When you win on the field, that trumps any argument.

But in reality, teams improve week to week, players get hurt, and teams sometimes play up to their ability on a given day and on a given day they don't.

So for purposes of who DESERVES to be considered better, Ole Miss must be given that status. If they played today, it may be very different. It depends on what you're asking when you say are they "better than Bama".

But it doesn't, as we have seen time and time again. Upsets happen, better teams lose to worse teams, and teams that lose to an opponent later outrank them based on the whole resume. In CFB, the head to head is a part of being "better", not the whole thing.

This is why I think there should be no rankings. Conference champs should playoff for the belt. End of story.

You win championships based on entire season's body of work.

That's because anything can and does happen week to week.

2 years...wow

Talk when the rebels win 10 years straight. Ole Miss will never win a championship. Your program is a pile of embarrassing shite.

All I know is that we love to frick on bama. Sorry we are better than bama. Oh, never mind, they "gave us some fumbles and picks". And last year, I guess they injured their own players? This is all really stupid...

Ole Miss is not better, but they did their thing to win that game and you have to give them credit. I know Bama played poorly, but Ole Miss did enough to win as well.
