Or, more to what I'm trying to get at...

Is head to head more important than overall results/eye test if the two teams have close to the same record?

If the record is the same, head-to-head has to count.

Yes. Can't change 43-37 no matter the fumbles or anything.

I've told a couple of people that Ole Miss won the battle but lost the war in that game.

Yes they won the game but they had so many players get hurt that it took most of their depth.

You must have depth in the SEC.

Ole Miss at full strength? Absolutely.

Ole Miss injured? No.

I'm as anti-olemiss as anyone, although living in Austin and not being surrounded by ole miss types makes me more prone to be anti-utexas and anti-aggie.

That being said, if the records are even close, then ole miss is better.

One year can be considered a fluke. Ole Miss has beaten bama 2 years in a row, at the same point in the season, with bama having had no significant injuries.

Bama is living on recruiting rankings and a high preseason ranking. They almost lost to a crappy tennessee team (at home) yesterday, and haven't beaten anyone of merit yet.

You are silly. Alabama is the reigning SEC Champion and will repeat. Ole Miss is a nine win team. They barely beat Vandy and were out classed by Memphis.

Bama will finish 7-1 which has become normal for Saban to shite the bed against a lesser team. The last 2 years it happened to be Ole Miss.

2008 8-0
2009 8-0
2010 5-3
2011 7-1
2012 7-1
2013 7-1
2014 7-1
2015 ?

Everybody else is playing for second or trying be the one team that upsets Bama. Ole Miss has won that trophy 2 years running.

If the records pan out similar, Ole MIss can argue they are better.

If they finish 8-4 and Bama is 12-1

hard to argue you're a better team overall, just that you were better that one day.

They were on 9/19. Not sure about 9/18 or 9/20, but they are sure not now.

Maybe not this year, but last year everyone forgets that not only did we lose Drake who was the 2nd biggest offensive threat for Bama at the time, but we also lost starting center Ryan Kelly in the 1st half. Take away any key player and it makes a huge difference. Even more so in the gam in which it happens.

Are you 100% positive, like willing to bet your house, your wife & dog, sure they aren't better now?

Bama used the wrong game plan in that game.

So you lost two offensive players during the game --
that happens. Given bama's recruiting and "player development" under Saban, one would assume that their backups are capable.

Bama is one of the few teams that can't use depth as an excuse.

And still, bama has yet to beat anyone of merit this season. That could change if they beat LSU in two weeks.

Yeah sports isn't about being "better" it's about winning.

Being better is the best way to win, but it doesn't guarantee anything.

Nobody thinks 2008 Ole Miss was a better team than 2008 Florida for example, but they still won that day.
