No way you had equal talent to Miss State or Colorado.

Mississippi State finished the regular season 8-4 (with one of those wins being against Auburn - a team Alabama lost to) and Colorado had the same record as us at the end of the regular season.

Bryant was an average X's and O's coach, too. I don't need flashy offenses when my team is playing for and winning national championships without them.

Because he's recruited great and knows how to prepare a team early. When things go off script he struggles but his planning, which is still an X's and O's aspect, is usually great.

Take away his wins and accomplishments and he's just another average coach. Might have even coached an Auburn team at some point.

Managing the egos of great players and assistants is what he does best. It is very hard, and he does it better than anyone.

I think that recruiting and player evaluation are a part of coaching just like selecting a staff, organization, and Xs and Os. Most "great" coaches will tell you that surrounding themselves with good coaches/staff is one of the main part.

I do think that Saban is outstanding at recruiting, obviously and finding diamonds in the rough to go along with all his 4&5 star recruits.

But his relentless work ethic is probably his best quality.

Urban Meyer. I think he'd be getting a lot of attention as one of the better all time coaches if he wasn't in saban's shadow

Meyer is a good HC but I wouldn't put him with Saban just yet.
We'll see what he has now that he has to compete with Harbaugh as his rival. 9er's must be kicking their own arse Jim Carrey style daily.

He's not with saban and I don't think he ever will be. I just think he's top 10 or so, all time.

Imo Meyer left the SEC because of Saban, he knew he could go to OSU and at that time he could beat the other schools in recruiting and have a clear road to the NC each yr. Michigan fkd that plan up by hiring Harbaugh, whos done nothing but win as a HC at both levels.

I think Jimmy Johnson went 1-15 his first year with the Cowboys. He also "sucked" with the Dolphins, yet there's not a fanbase around that wouldn't have gone thru hell in a gasoline suit to have him as their coach during those years.

Who was it they said could take his players and beat yours or yours and beat his?

Obviously no way to prove that and was mainly just hyperbole.

Sex addict. She fricked Cam and probably would have left Gus for him had he ask. Rumored to have fricked other players, but only the ones that play well. Kinda a star fricker.
