Les Miles has one of the best win% in sec history and the #1 ooc win % in sec history. Since he has been at lsu no program has beaten more ranked teams, no program has been ranked in the top 25 more weeks and he has finished in the top 10 6 of his 10 seasons and finished in the top 15 7 of his 10 seasons and that's not counting 2009 when lsu finished 17th. So 8 of his 10 seasons lsu has finished in the top 17. He has achieved these great #'s during the most successful era of sec football, EVER.

Type Les Miles into Google and virtually every image it displays has him smiling or laughing, like life is a game. Life isn't a game; life is serious and so is college football.

College football is the very definition of a game, and life is a gamble. I'm sorry Miles has so much fun with it.

You mean when lsu had
4 losses (2000)
3 losses (2001)
5 losses ( 2002)
1 loss
3 losses (2004)
And don't give that bullshite myth that Saban had no talent to work with.the 2000 lsu tigers had over 10 future nfl players and some of the greatest players , at their position, in lsu history.( davey, reed, Bradie james)

Les is a top 5-7 coach in CFB right now. Plus, he seems to be a good father, husband, and mentor to quite a few 18-22yr olds. I admire the man and the coach and would gladly send my son(if i had one and he were good enough)to play for that man. It will be a sad day for the SEC when he decides to call it quits.

What do you think of the perception that the media has purposely created about Saban being a mean monster who eats children compared to Miles, the gentle dumb giant with a heart of gold?

I think it's unfair. In the thread that the LSU fan created where he was talking about how he didn't realize Saban was human, there were several images of Saban laughing and enjoying himself.

That you would much rather have your fictional child play for Miles, rather than Saban, isn't really the topic.

Honestly, I don't really buy in to perceptions. I know that people act differently in their professions than they do at home and around family. I've never heard a player say anything bad about Saban and that's all that really matters to me.

I think Saban stepped over another lethargic body as you typed.

I am going to tell you anyway. I'll tell what life is and what life isn't. Life IS serious and life ISN'T a game. Ask anybody about that; go ahead and ask them.

And maybe, just maybe, LSU athletics/admin/program just doesn't take it's football seriously enough, because football isn't a game either.

Do you think Miles is a better person than Saban, generally?

The inner workings of the program aren't discussed much. There is info on both of them where former players take shots. Surprisingly, more negativity seems to come from the Miles camp.

Have you ever heard of an LSU player that played under Saban that disliked him?

That's true and it's a good point. We, the general public, only know the superficial things about football programs, not the dirty inner gears that make them click.

They are so different it's hard to say.

ETA I think they are both good people but Saban doesn't want all the publicity that comes with doing good things.

I'm sure there are guys out there that didn't like him, just like any coach. For the most part, the players liked and respected Saban. In 2007 when UA played LSU, the Srs for LSU made sure to come talk to Saban and shake his hand. I thought that spoke volumes about him.
